ELTA Technology (8487), Taiwan’s pioneering new media company, continues to break new ground with milestones such as obtaining the world’s first new media Olympic broadcasting license, Taiwan’s first HD and 3D Olympic broadcasts, and multi-angle coverage. To enhance brand visibility and attract top talent, ELTA has decided to enter the capital market, with plans to be listed on the Emerging Stock Board (TPEx) on December 10.
“Born from the internet, grown in the cloud, and specialized in mobility — a new media company with technology as its DNA.” This concise statement perfectly encapsulates ELTA’s development and positioning. CEO Sally Chen stated, “Digital convergence will revolutionize the existing media industry — cross-platform content integration will become increasingly common, and the future will be a ‘TV Anywhere’ era.” In facing the powerful digital wave, ELTA has chosen to respond proactively, leveraging its technological strengths to secure a pivotal role in the media value chain. Chen added, “The advantage of digital technology is that mastering one core competency can generate countless innovative applications — that’s what differentiates ELTA from traditional content producers.”
Thanks to its diversified business model, ELTA achieved remarkable results: NT$545 million in revenue for 2014 with an EPS of NT$2.12 (capital NT$150 million), up 12% year-over-year; and NT$262 million in consolidated revenue for 1H2015 with an EPS of NT$0.68 (capital NT$180 million), up 18%. ELTA’s primary business segments include (1) Digital Content Production & Distribution, (2) Commercial Video Services, and (3) System Development & Project Integration. Details are as follows:
(1) **Digital Content Production & Distribution**
ELTA currently operates five in-house TV channels and represents ten international channels (including the BBC family). From content production and channel management to foreign channel representation, digital audiovisual content remains ELTA’s core business. These programs are made available to the public through Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD, Hami, and CHT Video platforms. Moving forward, ELTA plans to expand to multiple distribution platforms to embrace the next wave of digital convergence.
(2) **Commercial Video Services**
As Taiwan’s leader in cloud-based new media, ELTA is committed to driving innovation in the media technology industry. By combining online streaming technology with professional HD video production, ELTA partnered with Chunghwa Telecom’s HiNet to launch “hievent” — Taiwan’s first enterprise-grade cloud video integration service. This all-in-one B2B broadcasting solution enables Taiwanese businesses to harness the power of digital media marketing and explore new business opportunities in the cloud era.
(3) **System Development & Project Collaboration**
Founded as an internet technology company, ELTA possesses deep expertise in digital technology and platform development. Since its inception, the company has built multiple digital video platforms, including Chunghwa Telecom’s HiChannel and numerous enterprise video websites. Today, ELTA continues to focus on its core technologies — multi-screen integration, big data, cloud applications, and digital convergence (OTT). Notable projects include developing the CPBL.TV streaming service and OTT apps for the Chinese Professional Baseball League. ELTA also excels in large-scale government integration projects, providing comprehensive app development, cross-platform integration, and custom full-stack website solutions.
After 15 years of development, ELTA is officially entering the capital market. CEO Chen stated, “Our goals for listing are to attract talent, align with international standards, and raise funds for future growth. TPEx listing is only the first step — we are moving toward full public listing.” With a strong foundation and competitive edge, ELTA is poised to seize the next wave of opportunities in the digital media industry.
