No Off-Season – ELTA Steadily Developes Its Sports Broadcasting Coverage While Seeking New Breakthroughs. Long-Term Subscriber Numbers Increase Significantly – EPS For The First Three Quarters of 2025 Reached 3.02

ELTA Technology [ELTA-TIB (8487)] held a meeting of its Board of Directors today and approved the financial statements for the third quarter of 2025. Consolidated revenue for the quarter reached NT$265 million, with after-tax net profit of NT$26.577 million and EPS of NT$1.00. Compared to the same period last year, results showed a slight decline, primarily due to the exceptional benefit generated from ELTA’s broadcast rights for the Paris Olympics in the previous year. From January to September, cumulative revenue reached NT$802 million, with after-tax net profit of NT$80.02 million and EPS of NT$3.02, fully aligning with the company’s operational objective of achieving “No Off-Season.”

In 2025, ELTA will offer an even broader and more competitive lineup of sports content, including MLB, Nippon Professional Baseball, the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), BWF badminton, WTT table tennis, the NFL, major European football leagues, the Australian/French/Wimbledon Grand Slams, World Athletics flagship events, ISU figure skating, F1 racing, and various domestic grassroots competitions. Many of these rights are exclusive or Taiwan master broadcast rights. With more than 15,000 hours of live broadcasts annually, ELTA has built a stable and loyal base of viewers and subscribers. Long-term subscription users increased by 20%, becoming a key driver of sustained profitability.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the excitement generated by the early November MLB World Series, together with growth in long-term OTT subscriptions, is expected to support stable profitability consistent with the performance of the first three quarters. Regarding the NBA broadcast rights issue, ELTA emphasized that it will not affect the company’s full-year operating results.

The year 2026 will be packed with major global sporting events—including the World Baseball Classic (WBC), the FIFA World Cup™, and the Asian Games—occurring in the same year for the first time. Historically, each of these events has contributed substantial growth momentum on top of ELTA’s existing operational base. Notably, these three events fall during key holiday or vacation periods—March (post-Lunar New Year), June (Dragon Boat Festival and summer break), and September (Mid-Autumn period)—and are expected to generate multiple peaks in viewership throughout the year. In addition, ELTA’s drama and variety programming continue to deliver steady ratings performance, contributing diversified revenue streams for the company.

To prepare for the influx of international sporting events in 2026, ELTA has launched a comprehensive upgrade of its primary and backup production control systems, integrating AI-powered technologies to enhance production quality and the viewer experience. These upgrades will strengthen ELTA’s ability to deliver high-standard, internationally aligned broadcast services. The company anticipates that these technological advancements will attract more subscribers, boost viewership ratings, and further enhance overall operating performance.

Nominated for "Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Award" – ELTA Technology Drives New Era of Sports Broadcasting with AI

At the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Forum held today (15th), Ernst & Young Taiwan Managing Partner Wen-Fang Fu stated that this year’s theme, “Smart Strategies, Cross-Boundary Breakthroughs,” highlights how the young entrepreneurs nominated for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award are seizing emerging technology trends, adapting to global changes, and leading through cross-industry collaboration with excellence and vision.

When Taiwan was still in the dial-up internet era, ELTA Technology Chairperson Sally Chen foresaw that “the internet would become the future of television” and founded ELTA based on that belief. Leveraging her extensive experience in system integration and technology, along with keen insight into media transformation, she courageously entered the then-uncharted world of online video. Despite numerous crises over the years—including investors withdrawing capital and live broadcast interruptions—she successfully led the company’s evolution from a VOD internet TV model to strategic partnerships with telecom operators. In 2008, during the Beijing Olympics, ELTA became the world’s first company to obtain new media broadcasting rights for the Olympics, establishing itself as a pioneer in digital sports broadcasting.

During the forum, Chairperson Sally Chen stated: “Empowering sports broadcasting with AI is the future trend. It enhances viewer excitement and emotion while using technology and artificial intelligence to preserve every thrilling moment as a lasting memory. This not only strengthens our brand influence but also builds stronger emotional connections with audiences. We want fans to think of ELTA whenever they watch the World Baseball Classic, the FIFA World Cup, or when they see Taiwanese athletes winning medals at the Asian Games.”

Deeply Cultivating Sports Broadcasting, Results Blossom – ELTA EPS 6.85 in 2024, Record High – Stable Operations in 2025, Creating Explosive Momentum for 2026 Sports Broadcast Year

ELTA Technology (8487-INN) recently announced its 2024 financial results, reporting revenue of NT$1.489 billion, a substantial 53.82% increase compared to NT$968 million in 2023. Net profit after tax reached NT$179 million, up 31.62% from NT$136 million in the previous year, with earnings per share (EPS) hitting a record high of NT$6.85. This demonstrates that ELTA’s long-term focus on sports broadcasting has been well recognized by both users and investors, leading to robust profitability.

ELTA also announced that in 2025 it plans to distribute a cash dividend of NT$5.2 per share, representing a payout ratio of approximately 76%, continuing its tradition of maintaining a “high-dividend” policy. Based on the closing price on the day of the board meeting, this represents a cash dividend yield of 7.1%. After its listing on the Taiwan Innovation Board in March 2024 under the “Digital Cloud Industry” category, initial trading activity was limited due to qualified investor restrictions. However, since the removal of those restrictions in January 2025, trading volume has significantly increased. With improved liquidity, ELTA’s stock price is expected to better reflect its true value.

ELTA has long specialized in sports broadcasting, with Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD service as its core revenue base, while successfully capturing the shift in audience behavior toward OTT streaming. As a result, both revenue and profit have reached new highs in recent years, establishing ELTA as a successful new-media business model. With the government’s focus on promoting the sports industry following the establishment of the Ministry of Sports, ELTA is poised to benefit as a leading company in sports broadcasting.

Notably, ELTA is not only known for broadcasting major sporting events such as the WBSC Premier12, the World Baseball Classic (WBC), and the Olympic gold medal match of badminton duo Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin, but also for its dedication to promoting local sports. ELTA was the only network to broadcast both the Paris Paralympics and the Asian Winter Games, ensuring that Taiwan’s athletes received visibility and recognition. It has also strengthened its production capabilities in local sports coverage—from in-house professional baseball broadcasts to grassroots events on ELTA Sports 4, and even managing both international and customized local signal production for major global events like the WBC Qualifiers. This dual-path production capability once again reflects ELTA’s comprehensive, full-scale investment in sports broadcasting, driven by its commitment to capturing “the attention economy.”

Looking ahead to 2025, ELTA will continue its strong partnership with Chunghwa Telecom to expand sports broadcasting, introduce more international tournaments, and promote domestic grassroots competitions. This year, ELTA has secured the exclusive MLB broadcasting rights in Taiwan and will air up to 10 live games daily, as well as the full media broadcasting rights for the TSG Hawks in the CPBL. With a foundation built on ten major sports properties—including BWF badminton tournaments, WTT table tennis tours, the French Open, and multiple flagship football leagues—ELTA will also expand collaboration with other distribution platforms to better serve sports fans nationwide. This supports ELTA’s “Year-Round, No Off-Season” programming strategy, further fueling industry growth and solidifying a sustainable, long-term operational model ahead of another major sports year in 2026.

In addition to strengthening its leadership in sports broadcasting, ELTA is actively expanding into entertainment and drama programming. ELTA General Channel and ELTA Drama Channel continue to acquire popular series and animations each season from mainland China, South Korea, and Japan. Notable premieres include The Double, Nine Layers of Purple, In the Palm, Splendid Season, Filter, Her Story, Only for Love, and FACE ME. High-rated classics such as Goblin and Mr. Queen have also been featured, alongside hit Japanese dramas and anime like Doctor-X and Demon Slayer. These efforts aim to meet audience demand, boost viewership time, enhance user engagement, and strengthen ELTA’s foothold in the entertainment content market.

ELTA: Paris Olympics Achieves Great Results – MOD Viewership/OTT Subscription/Ad Revenue Surpass Previous Games

The most beautiful Summer Olympics in history has officially concluded. ELTA (8487-TW), the exclusive broadcaster for Taiwan, announced today (19th) that its viewership reached record highs. Despite the six-hour time difference between Paris and Taiwan—with over one-third of live events airing after midnight—subscriptions to ELTA’s OTT platform (ELTA.tv) surpassed Tokyo Olympics figures just two days after the Games began and exceeded the Qatar World Cup’s peak within a week. At its highest point, total subscriptions were 1.3 times greater than the World Cup’s record high.

ELTA stated that Taiwan has entered a new era of diverse media consumption, where audiences increasingly embrace the sustainable “pay-for-quality-sports” model. Overcoming the time-zone challenge, ELTA partnered with Chunghwa Telecom (2412-TW) to provide 24-hour non-stop coverage totaling 2,500 hours of premium Olympic programming—defying early skepticism from some platforms and setting a new milestone in Taiwan’s sports broadcasting history.

Paris Olympics ratings remained strong. ELTA’s overall MOD live ratings reached more than 70% of those from the “no time difference” Tokyo Olympics. Replay ratings during the event were also 30% higher than those of Tokyo, showing that viewers continuously followed Olympic action—whether through live broadcasts, daytime replays, or on-demand (VOD) viewing—surpassing Tokyo’s overall performance.

ELTA reported that the peak viewership occurred when badminton duo Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin clinched the gold medal, achieving a record 9.14 rating on MOD—the highest of 2024. Boxer Lin Yu-Ting’s gold medal match also set a new record for ELTA’s top late-night rating at 3 a.m.

Originally planning for 500 hours of localized Mandarin coverage, ELTA and Chunghwa Telecom expanded production by 1.4× to reach 700 hours. The detailed, diverse, and high-quality broadcasts overcame time-zone limits and captured audience attention, driving significant advertising gains. Within just two days of the opening ceremony, ELTA’s MOD ad revenue had already met its target—ultimately reaching 1.5× that of the Tokyo Olympics.

The most beautiful Summer Olympics in history has officially concluded, and ELTA (8487-Innovation), Taiwan’s exclusive broadcaster for the Paris 2024 Games, achieved record-breaking viewership. Despite the six-hour time difference between Paris and Taiwan—with over one-third of live coverage airing after midnight—ELTA’s OTT platform (ELTA.tv) surpassed its Tokyo Olympics subscription record within just two days of the Games’ start, and one week later exceeded the peak performance of the Qatar World Cup. At its highest point, total subscriptions reached 1.3 times that of the World Cup’s record peak.

As Taiwan enters a new era of diversified media consumption, audiences are increasingly embracing the sustainable model of “pay-per-view for premium sports content.” Overcoming time-zone challenges, ELTA and its strategic partner Chunghwa Telecom delivered 24-hour non-stop coverage, totaling 2,500 hours of world-class Olympic programming. The success defied early skepticism from some platforms and marked a new milestone in Taiwan’s sports broadcasting industry.

Paris Olympics Outperform Tokyo in Engagement
MOD ELTA Channel Ad Revenue Up Nearly 50%

Viewership for the Paris Olympics remained outstanding. ELTA’s overall MOD live ratings reached over 70% of the Tokyo 2020 levels (which had no time difference), while Olympic replays outperformed Tokyo’s by more than 30%. This demonstrated that audiences closely followed the Games—whether live, replayed during the day, or viewed on-demand (VOD)—exceeding total engagement metrics from the previous Olympics.

The highest ratings were achieved during the thrilling gold medal victory of badminton duo Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin, with a peak MOD rating of 9.14—the highest of 2024. Boxer Lin Yu-Ting’s gold medal bout also set a record for ELTA’s highest late-night rating in channel history.

Originally planning for 500 hours of localized Mandarin commentary, ELTA and Chunghwa Telecom expanded coverage by 1.4× to 700 hours, delivering rich, diverse, and precisely produced programming that overcame time-zone barriers to capture audiences’ attention. This strong engagement also boosted advertising performance—MOD ad revenue met its target just two days after the opening ceremony and ultimately reached 1.5× that of the Tokyo Olympics.

ELTA Innovation Board Listing Pre-Performance Presentation

ELTA Technology to Be Listed in Late March; Q3 2024 Outlook Focused on the Paris Olympics
Taiwan’s leading sports broadcaster, ELTA Technology Co., Ltd. (Stock Code: 8487), officially received approval from the Taiwan Stock Exchange in late December to become the nation’s first fully new-media listed company. Amid the global wave of digital transformation, ELTA plans to debut on the Taiwan Innovation Board under the Digital Cloud category in late March 2024. The company is also preparing to broadcast this summer’s grandest global sporting event—the 2024 Paris Olympic Games—marking its fourth consecutive term as Taiwan’s exclusive media rights holder. ELTA will host its pre-listing performance presentation on March 1, 2024 (Friday) at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, with Hung Yuan Securities as the lead underwriter.

ELTA Chairperson Sally Chen stated: “Securing the Taiwan exclusive broadcast rights for the Summer Olympics for four consecutive Games is a remarkable recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Since launching our new media division in 2008, ELTA has partnered with Chunghwa Telecom to advance with the era of digital convergence, using sports broadcasting to write history. For the Paris Olympics, ELTA will again collaborate with Chunghwa Telecom to bring cutting-edge broadcasting technology to audiences, revolutionizing the eye economy through device interoperability—maximizing viewer engagement and corporate profitability.”

Founded in 2000, ELTA focuses on two core business areas: digital content and media advertising. Its digital operations include channel management, streaming services, and content sublicensing. Partnering with Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD platform, ELTA continues to push the boundaries of digitalization in sports and entertainment by introducing technologies such as 4K, AR, VR, and multi-angle broadcasting. With extensive experience covering international events—including the IOC, FIFA, and other global federations—ELTA has established itself as Taiwan’s most innovative leader in new-media sports broadcasting and developed strong working relationships with international rights holders and signal distributors.

Since 2008, ELTA has secured broadcast rights for five Summer Olympic Games (including Paris 2024), four Asian Games, and four FIFA World Cups. Among these, it has held exclusive Taiwan rights for four Olympics, two Asian Games, and three World Cups across free-to-air, cable, and online television. Additionally, it holds exclusive rights for MLB, the BWF World Tour, and the English Premier League, and since December 2023, the NFL. Combined with advanced broadcasting technology, high-definition quality, and integrated services for both audiences and platforms, ELTA has successfully built a strong and reputable sports broadcasting brand.

Operationally, ELTA reported 2023 revenue of NT$968 million, comparable to 2022’s NT$981 million, but with record-breaking profitability. EPS rose sharply to NT$5.98 in 2023, up from NT$2.81 in 2022. The company’s gross profit margin also improved significantly—from 19.36% in 2022 to 35.41% in 2023—achieving its highest profitability in history and demonstrating exceptional operational performance.

In 2024, in addition to the confirmed Paris Olympic broadcast rights, ELTA has secured multi-year contracts for numerous domestic and international events spanning team and individual sports. The company’s strategy is to maintain a “year-round, no off-season” event schedule, creating continuous industry momentum and establishing a sustainable long-term operating model.

Looking ahead, beyond strengthening its sports broadcasting dominance, ELTA will expand its entertainment channels—ELTA General and ELTA Drama. Each season, the company will add 2–3 new hit dramas or animations from China, Korea, and Japan, including popular titles such as *Lost You Forever*, *Love Like the Galaxy*, *The Story of Minglan*, *Nothing Gold Can Stay*, *Agency*, *What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim*, *Taxi Driver*, *Doctor-X*, and *Demon Slayer*. This strategy aims to meet audience demand, boost engagement, and increase both viewing time and ratings, driving revenue growth for MOD and OTT platforms. The upcoming Paris Olympics broadcast in July 2024 is also expected to further expand ELTA’s operational scale and profitability.

2022 World Cup™ Opening Week Broadcast Momentum – ELTA Sparks Viewership Boom, Subscriptions and Ads Surpass Tokyo Olympics

The FIFA World Cup™ returns once again to ignite national passion! For the first time in history, the tournament is being held in the Northern Hemisphere winter, transforming the usual “summer football fever” into a new wave of “winter World Cup madness.” As the exclusive Taiwan broadcast agent for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™, MOD ELTA TV achieved outstanding ratings and subscription numbers within the first three days before kickoff. With cutting-edge broadcast technology and ongoing match excitement, the fever is expected to continue until the championship match on December 18.

Qatar World Cup Ratings Surge
ELTA’s Subscribers and Ad Revenue Surpass Tokyo Olympics

After four days of matches, the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ has already delivered nonstop surprises—from the stunning opening ceremony led by actor Morgan Freeman, to England’s six-goal debut, Argentina’s shocking loss to Saudi Arabia, and France’s impressive start hinting at a title defense. Meanwhile, thanks to NBA legend Dwight Howard’s recent arrival in Taiwan’s T1 League, local football discussions have surged. Chunghwa Telecom MOD achieved impressive ratings exceeding 1.2 multiple times, while ELTA.tv subscriptions have already surpassed those of the Tokyo Olympics.

Due to the fast-paced nature of football, halftime ad slots are in particularly high demand, pushing ad revenues beyond those of the Tokyo Olympics. As the tournament heats up and major powerhouses like Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Croatia take the stage, all exclusive on MOD/Hami Video/ELTA.tv, subscription and rating numbers are expected to rise even higher.

High-Tech Broadcast Enhancements SAOT and AR Bring Fans Closer
Argentina’s Shock Loss Explained Through New Technology

ELTA’s technological innovations are a major highlight of this year’s coverage. FIFA has introduced the “Semi-Automated Offside Technology” (SAOT), combining in-ball tracking chips with the stadium’s “Hawk-Eye” optical camera system. The system was put to use just three minutes into the opening match, disallowing Ecuador captain Enner Valencia’s goal—a call that sparked global debate. Argentina’s stunning upset loss also involved three disallowed goals for offside under SAOT rulings. Meanwhile, viewers can now experience AR (Augmented Reality) World Cup coverage for the first time, projecting virtual 3D images of superstar players into viewing environments for photos and interactive fun. Multi-angle viewing technology also allows audiences to switch between six perspectives to analyze every key play in real time.

As with every major international sports event, ELTA remains committed to defending broadcast rights. The 2022 FIFA World Cup™ is available **only** on Chunghwa Telecom MOD, Hami Video, and ELTA.tv. Whether for personal or public viewing, please ensure you are watching through official ELTA platforms. Public broadcasting through legitimate authorization has gained broad public support, and ELTA will continue to cooperate closely with FIFA to investigate and prevent all forms of copyright infringement. 2022 FIFA World Cup™ – ELTA TV Legal Broadcast Platform and Public Broadcast Authorization Channels Explained

Recently, our company has received multiple reports from the public indicating that certain unscrupulous individuals are illegally selling pirated video apps online. These infringing apps falsely claim to provide access to the television channels and audiovisual content owned by ELTA TV (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”). In addition, we have also received information alleging that some individuals are fraudulently claiming to possess public broadcasting rights for ELTA TV channels in order to extort “public screening authorization fees” from cinemas, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses.

Given that the Company will soon broadcast the 2022 FIFA World Cup™, the 2023 Asian Games, and other major domestic and international sporting events, the following clarifications are provided regarding the legitimate broadcasting channels and authorized public screening methods for ELTA TV channels:

【1. Legitimate Broadcasting Channels】

All official ELTA TV-operated channels (five TV/online channels and four online-only channels) are legally accessible **only** through the following authorized platforms. Any other sources or providers not listed below are considered illegal and unauthorized:

1. ELTA Sports 1, 2, and 3 Channels: Available **only** through the IPTV platform (Chunghwa Telecom MOD) and the OTT platforms—Chunghwa Telecom Hami Video and ELTA.tv.

2. ELTA Sports MAX 1, 2, 3, and 4 Channels: Available **only** through the OTT platforms—Chunghwa Telecom Hami Video and ELTA.tv.

【2. Legitimate Public Screening Authorization】

Public broadcasting rights for ELTA TV channels are offered exclusively via Chunghwa Telecom MOD. Users subscribed to the MOD Public Viewing Package may play the channels in public venues on a monthly subscription basis. This package includes five channels: ELTA Sports 1–3, ELTA Drama, and ELTA General Channel. As for OTT platforms, ELTA reserves all public broadcasting rights solely for itself. The Company has **not authorized any third party** to offer or sell public viewing rights for its channels.

Accordingly, any entity wishing to publicly play ELTA channel content—such as installing loudspeakers, projectors, or organizing large-scale public screenings—must obtain prior authorization directly from the Company (no agents are authorized). ELTA hereby reiterates that, aside from the MOD Public Viewing Package, it has never granted any third party the right to sell or distribute public screening licenses for its channels. We urge all businesses and organizations to stay vigilant and verify authenticity with the Company before making any payments or agreements.

Intellectual property rights require the collective effort and support of everyone. Should you encounter individuals attempting to sell unauthorized ELTA channel rights or discover pirated content containing ELTA programming, please report it directly to the Company so we can maintain a fair and lawful copyright environment together.

We also welcome everyone to join us in the fight against piracy.

Tokyo Olympics Joint Broadcast – Total of 1,200 Hours Serving the Nation!

Postponed for a year due to the pandemic, the “Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” the first to be held in an odd-numbered year, will officially commence on July 23. As the countdown reaches 66 days, the long-awaited broadcast arrangements have been officially announced—Chunghwa Telecom, ELTA TV, Public Television Service (PTS), and Eastern Television (ETTV) will jointly deliver nearly 1,200 hours of coverage, allowing audiences nationwide to follow every move of Team Taiwan anytime, anywhere.

Nearly 1,200 Hours of Olympic Coverage Meeting Viewers’ Demands
Three major television networks—ELTA, PTS, and ETTV—will collaborate to provide 13 channels across four major platforms, including the IPTV platform Chunghwa Telecom MOD, the online OTT platform Hami Video, as well as cable and terrestrial TV.

For the fourth consecutive Summer Olympics, Chunghwa Telecom MOD will once again bring extensive coverage. ELTA Sports 1 and 2 will pioneer 4K Olympic broadcasting for the first time, while ELTA Sports 3 and three original-audio channels—ELTA Olympic 1, 2, and 3—will together deliver over 800 hours of Olympic programming. The OTT platforms Chunghwa Telecom Hami Video and ELTA.tv will also stream all six ELTA channels, offering the same 800 hours of live content. Notably, Hami Video introduces Taiwan’s first-ever Olympic VR broadcast.

To ensure the broadest reach for domestic viewers, PTS will again participate in Olympic coverage via its three terrestrial channels—PTS Main Channel, PTS3, and PTS Taiwanese Channel.

As for cable television, ETTV joins the Olympic broadcast lineup for the first time. Star anchors Pei-Ying Han and sports commentator Yuan-Kai Ting will lead the in-studio coverage, while reporters stationed on-site in Tokyo will provide live reports and interviews. The event will be broadcast live on ETTV News Channel (CH 51) and replayed at various times across ETTV Finance News (CH 57), ETTV Variety (CH 32), and ETTV Super (CH 33), ensuring 24-hour Olympic excitement for viewers.

Across the four platforms, nearly 1,200 hours of total coverage will be available—guaranteed to satisfy both hardcore sports fans and casual audiences alike.

First-Ever 4K and VR Olympic Broadcast A New Viewing Experience
Beyond the extensive broadcast schedule, another highlight is the introduction of 4K and VR coverage on Chunghwa Telecom MOD—marking Taiwan’s first Olympic Games presented in both formats. Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Taiwan’s Olympic coverage has continued to innovate—from HD in Beijing to 3D in London, and now to 4K and VR in Tokyo. With this evolution from SD to ultra-high-definition 4K, viewers can expect a new visual revolution. The debut of VR broadcasting will employ two technologies: True VR and True View. True VR offers panoramic stereoscopic imagery, allowing audiences to choose their preferred viewing angles—creating an immersive, courtside-like experience. True View, applied exclusively to basketball, uses ten cameras strategically positioned to capture every angle of the action in stunning 360 degrees. These cutting-edge VR technologies provide not only immersion but also a sense of truly being there in person.

27 Olympic Tickets Secured Baseball Faces Final Qualifiers
Despite the global challenges of the pandemic, the IOC and the Japanese government have implemented strict safety measures to ensure that hosting the “Tokyo 2020 Olympics” demonstrates humanity’s triumph over disease. As of May 18, Team Taiwan has qualified for 27 events across 11 sports, with 33 athletes confirmed, while others continue competing for qualification points. The baseball team’s Olympic berth will depend on the outcome of the final qualifying tournament (known as the “5-for-1” playoff). In badminton, medal contenders include world No.1 Tai Tzu-Ying, men’s singles ace Chou Tien-Chen, “Badminton Prince” Wang Tzu-Wei, and the men’s doubles pair Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin. Final Olympic rankings and seedings will be determined after the qualification deadline on June 15, as Taiwan’s top athletes aim to deliver their best-ever performances.

Taiwan Expected to Win 10 Medals, Says U.S. Data Site
At the previous Olympics (Rio 2016), Team Taiwan earned one gold and two bronze medals. The gold won by weightlifting champion Hsu Shu-Ching made her the first Taiwanese athlete in history to successfully defend her title and claim back-to-back golds. For Tokyo 2020, Taiwan’s athletes are stronger than ever and poised to surpass past achievements. According to U.S.-based data analytics site Gracenote, Taiwan is projected to win 10 medals, ranking 10th in improvement rate. The Sports Administration highlights potential gold-medal contenders such as Tai Tzu-Ying (badminton) and Kuo Hsing-Chun (weightlifting), as well as other medal hopefuls including Lee Chih-Kai and Tang Chia-Hung (gymnastics), Wen Tzu-Yun (karate), Lin Yu-Ting and Chen Nien-Chin (boxing), Yang Kun-Pi, Wu Chia-Ying, and Tien Chia-Chen (shooting), Lien Chen-Ling and Yang Yung-Wei (judo), and both men’s and women’s archery teams who have earned full Olympic berths. Viewers can look forward to cheering them on through this joint broadcast.

Fighting Piracy ELTA Urges Support for Legitimate Viewing
With only 66 days left until the symbolic “Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” ELTA TV—the exclusive Taiwan Olympic broadcast agent—will form an anti-piracy task force to protect broadcast rights during the Games. Chairperson Sally Chen stated: “As defenders of intellectual property and authorized rights from the IOC, we urge all viewers to support legitimate broadcasts.” ELTA will actively monitor and pursue unauthorized rebroadcasting or recording, taking all necessary legal actions. Chen warned: “Do not take chances; all violations will be investigated thoroughly.” She also reminded media outlets that any use of Olympic footage must come from authorized sources and comply with IOC regulations. Any public screenings or commercial broadcasts must obtain prior authorization. Even MOD public-viewing subscribers must secure additional rights from the broadcaster for major international events.

This year’s Tokyo Olympics features Team Taiwan’s strongest lineup in 16 years—ready to make history and set a new record for gold medals! ELTA TV, together with MOD, Hami, PTS, and ETTV, will stand united with Team Taiwan, capturing their golden moments in real time for the nation to witness and celebrate the glory of our athletes!

Scripts "Dining Table", "Cat Children", "Red Destiny" Win ELTA Script Awards

The results of the “ELTA Script Award” in the MOD Microfilm and Golden Reel Creation Contest have been announced! After two rounds of selection, the top prizes go to three works: “The Dining Table,” “The Cat Child,” and “The Red Thread of Tianjia.” Congratulations to the winners, each receiving a prize of NT$100,000.

Diverse Themes Reflecting Society's Many Faces
The three winning works differ greatly in subject and style, each reflecting different aspects of society. “The Dining Table” depicts how a new dining table brings subtle changes to a family — from childhood innocence to teenage rebellion — showing how parent-child relationships evolve with time until mutual understanding returns around the family table. “The Cat Child” tells the story of two young girls from different backgrounds connected by a stray cat, addressing serious social issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, and bullying. The stark contrast in their circumstances and the portrayal of society’s darker sides leave a deep impression. “The Red Thread of Tianjia” presents a humorous take on two women competing for the last red thread of love, only for a handsome man to unexpectedly take it and pray to the Matchmaker God to find his “true prince.” Its witty narrative and twist ending leave viewers smiling.

ELTA Aims to Inspire and Support Creative Talents
ELTA TV CEO Sally Chen stated: “Through events such as the MOD Microfilm and Golden Reel Creation Contest and the ELTA Script Award, we aim to provide creators with a platform to share their work and access valuable resources. We also hope to inspire more companies to invest in Taiwan’s creative media industry, strengthening our cultural competitiveness.” In today’s multi-channel viewing environment, content sustainability is the cornerstone of media operations. High-quality productions attract traffic and revenue, enabling reinvestment in diverse new works — creating a virtuous cycle that benefits the entire industry.

Content is King — ELTA’s Original Programs Earn Recognition
“Content is king” — it is the foundation of every media company. Since its launch, ELTA TV has focused on producing original content, including “Celebration of the Earth,” “Chef's Alliance,” “800 Days Around the World,” and “Rookie Rescuers,” successfully distributing them to markets such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. This year, “Celebration of the Earth” was nominated for two awards at the 55th Golden Bell Awards, marking ELTA TV’s third consecutive nomination, proving the network’s production quality and creativity. Despite limited resources, ELTA continues to produce diverse programs to meet viewer preferences, aiming to build collaborative success among creators, broadcasters, and platforms.

"Celebration of the Earth" Double Nomination – ELTA (8487) Nominated for Golden Bell Awards Three Years in a Row

Extra! Extra! ELTA TV’s original program “Celebration of the Earth” has received double nominations at the 55th Golden Bell Awards — for Best Lifestyle Program and Best Host (Mondo). This marks ELTA TV’s third consecutive year of nominations, following previous honors for “800 Days Around the World” and “Chef’s Alliance.” Such consistent recognition reflects the outstanding production quality of ELTA TV. We will continue to create excellent, entertaining programs — and we invite viewers to cheer us on at the awards ceremony!

Double Nominations for “Celebration of the Earth” — Recognition for ELTA
“Celebration of the Earth” is one of ELTA TV’s signature productions, taking viewers to festivals around the world. The production team has filmed across Taiwan, Asia, Europe, and Oceania, covering events such as the Beitou Hot Spring Festival, Wulai Cherry Blossom Art Festival, Spain’s Haro Wine Battle, Belgium’s Dragon Festival, and Berlin Carnival. During the Dragon Festival shoot, host Mondo bravely entered the crowd armed with a sports camera to capture the most exciting moments (some say it was his determination to win a Golden Bell Award!). Amidst the intense pushing and shoving as participants fought to grab the dragon’s tail (a horsehair charm symbolizing good luck), Mondo — despite his strong physique — was nearly crushed in the front row. He recalled hearing his bones crack before being pulled out by friends just in time. His daring act paid off — both he and the program received Golden Bell nominations, and everyone hopes this will be their year to “ring the bell.”

Mondo’s New Show Premieres 8/31 — ELTA Exclusive
ELTA’s streak of Golden Bell nominations highlights the strength of its production team. Their latest variety show, “Rookie Rescuers,” premieres exclusively on MOD ELTA General Channel (CH300) on Monday, August 31 at 9 PM. Hosted by Mondo and “Half and Half” regular guest Duli, it’s Taiwan’s first reality show led by foreign hosts. Each episode assigns them a mission — from caring for rabbits and building a lemur habitat to transforming influencers and helping young entrepreneurs sell dorayaki. Packed with humor and heartwarming moments, the show guarantees laughter and relaxation after a long day. Tune in to MOD ELTA General Channel (CH300) and enjoy your evening!

“Celebration of the Earth” Re-airs 9/2 at 9 PM
With the arrival of the 5G era, the media landscape is evolving faster than ever. Beyond creativity, visual quality has become essential. Since 2017, ELTA has produced all original programs in stunning 4K resolution. Both the nominated “Celebration of the Earth” and the upcoming “Rookie Rescuers” were shot in 4K, offering viewers an enhanced experience. Want to explore the world’s festivals through ELTA’s lens? MOD ELTA General Channel (CH300) will re-air “Celebration of the Earth” every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 PM starting September 2. ELTA Uses Live Streaming to Showcase Taiwan’s Internet Strength – Turning Pandemic Crisis into Opportunity, ELTA Leverages Professional Integration to Capture Live Streaming Market

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected everyone's daily life. As countries around the world enforced border restrictions and self-protection measures, business activities and international conferences were heavily impacted, forcing many to turn to video conferencing and live streaming. ELTA Technology is honored to sponsor and live stream The Web Conference 2020, showcasing Taiwan's technological expertise and professionalism to the world.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web, the core of the information age and the primary tool for billions of users to interact online. Originally scheduled to be held in Taipei, The Web Conference 2020 was transformed into a fully virtual event due to the pandemic. ELTA Technology took full responsibility for the live streaming, mobilizing all its professional resources to demonstrate Taiwan’s capabilities in broadcasting large-scale international online conferences. ELTA Technology Chairperson Sally Chen stated that as a digital-native new media company, ELTA possesses the ability to integrate technology and media. “When asked to take on this mission, we quickly coordinated all parties to deliver the best possible presentation and showcase Taiwan’s strength in internet and broadcasting.” Conference organizer and Director of Academia Sinica’s Research Center for Information Technology Innovation, Huang Yen-Nan, remarked that this was the first time the global conference was held entirely online and could serve as a future model for international virtual conferences.

With the continued spread of COVID-19, the frequency of online meetings and live streaming has surged due to safety considerations. This trend highlights how live video and streaming are reshaping global communication habits. The internet’s ability to transcend geography and time zones has made such services even more valuable. Recognizing this opportunity, ELTA invested heavily last year to build a state-of-the-art digital studio. Chairperson Sally Chen explained that the studio’s moderate size and professional design make it suitable for both UGC (User Generated Content) and PGC (Professionally Generated Content) productions. Fully equipped with LED lighting, the studio offers a high-quality atmosphere perfect for interviews, training sessions, lectures, or product videos. In addition to ELTA’s own programs, the facility is also available for external rental, adding new revenue streams.

“Every crisis brings opportunity — and turning opportunity into business potential is key.” While many industries have suffered under the pandemic, some have found new opportunities. With the rollout of 5G, its high bandwidth, low latency, and fast connectivity will enable higher-quality video streaming experiences. This “live streaming boom” has become a key application driving 5G development. ELTA is fully committed to embracing this trend and expanding its market presence.

Tokyo Olympics Broadcast Rights – ELTA Secures General Agency for Three Consecutive Games, 4K and VR Broadcasts, Milestone with Chunghwa Telecom for 5G

This summer's grand sports event — the Tokyo 2020 Olympics — will officially open on July 24. After a long wait, the broadcasting rights have finally been confirmed. MOD ELTA TV has obtained exclusive broadcasting rights for all Olympic events in Taiwan, marking ELTA TV's fourth consecutive Olympic broadcast and third consecutive time as Taiwan's sole rights holder. In response to the arrival of the 5G era, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will feature 4K and VR broadcasts, marking the first time Taiwan will offer both 4K channel and VR coverage for a single event, giving audiences an unprecedented viewing experience — stay tuned.

ELTA TV to Broadcast the Olympics for the Fourth Consecutive Time
The Summer Olympics, held every four years, has always been one of the world's most anticipated sporting events. ELTA began its Olympic broadcast journey with the 2008 Beijing Games, and since then, it has become synonymous with Olympic coverage in Taiwan. Whenever the Olympics approach, fans eagerly look forward to ELTA TV's comprehensive broadcast services. With Tokyo being geographically close to Taiwan and nearly no time difference, the 2020 Olympics have generated great anticipation among local viewers. After overcoming numerous challenges, ELTA has once again secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for Taiwan. ELTA TV CEO Yi-Chun Chen stated: “ELTA is deeply committed to sports broadcasting, and we will not be absent from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that all of Taiwan is watching. We will deliver the most professional and complete Olympic coverage to provide a comprehensive viewing experience.” She added that with the rise of the stay-at-home economy, watching TV at home will become the preferred leisure activity, likely boosting Olympic ratings and ELTA’s ad revenue.

Tokyo Olympics to Feature 4K and VR Broadcasts
Each Olympic broadcast not only presents thrilling competitions but also showcases technological advancements in visual experiences. From HD broadcasting at the Beijing Olympics, 3D at the London Games, to multi-channel coverage at Rio, ELTA TV, together with its partner Chunghwa Telecom, has continually leveraged technology to deliver innovative viewing experiences. With 5G technology, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will feature 4K and VR coverage enhanced with AI analytics and visual overlays that present real-time data to enrich the viewing experience. Through ELTA’s collaboration with Chunghwa Telecom, audiences will enjoy ultra-high-definition visuals and immersive virtual reality broadcasts, as if they were right inside the Olympic venues.

Taiwan Secures 27 Olympic Slots and Counting
The Tokyo Olympics will feature 33 sports and 339 events — more diverse than Rio 2016, which had 28 sports and 306 events. Baseball, one of the most beloved sports in Taiwan, will return to the Olympics after a 12-year hiatus. Taiwan's national team must win the final Olympic qualifier in April (to be broadcast by ELTA TV — stay tuned) to earn a spot. According to the Sports Administration, Taiwan’s athletes have already qualified for 27 spots across eight sports: archery, shooting, gymnastics, swimming, athletics, cycling, table tennis, and equestrian. In addition, badminton stars Tai Tzu-Ying, Chou Tien-Chen, and Wang Tzu-Wei continue to compete for qualification points before the cutoff. Other Taiwanese athletes in judo, weightlifting, tennis, and golf are also preparing to seize additional Olympic berths.

The Most Complete Olympic Coverage — Only on MOD
In 157 days, ELTA will begin its fourth Olympic broadcast. The Tokyo 2020 Olympics will further strengthen ELTA’s position as the leading new media brand and serve as a major growth driver in the market. ELTA will continue to make history through sports broadcasting and ride the waves of 5G and AI innovation to connect the world through digital media, creating a win-win situation for shareholders, employees, partners, and viewers alike.
From July 24 to August 9, audiences can easily enjoy the Tokyo Olympics by simply turning on their TV or mobile device. ELTA invites everyone to cheer for Taiwan’s athletes across all platforms, turning their hard work, sweat, and tears into remarkable performances that make Taiwan proud!

MOD Free Selection Creates Custom Channel List – ELTA is the Top Choice, Say Goodbye to Eye Control, Be the Master of Your TV Remote

In the era of digital convergence, the boundaries between cable TV and telecom industries are disappearing, as digitalization brings services and content closer together. To stay competitive, differentiation is now the key. With regulatory reforms, Chunghwa Telecom MOD has broken traditional subscription models by introducing the “Pick Your Own Package” plan — allowing viewers to choose their favorite channels and create personalized packages, giving true control back to the audience.

Goodbye to Fixed Channel Lists — Freedom to Choose with MOD
Returning control to the viewers — that’s the core idea behind MOD’s custom plan. For popular channel providers like ELTA TV, this represents a major opportunity. CEO Sally Chen stated: “From top-tier sporting events like the upcoming Rugby World Cup on September 20, to past broadcasts of the FIFA World Cup, Olympics, and Asian Games, and current coverage of BWF badminton, PGA golf, UEFA Champions League, CPBL baseball, and trending dramas from Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan — ELTA offers premium content to satisfy every viewer.” The launch of the MOD custom plan frees audiences from the “fixed channel list” model, benefiting high-quality channels. After all, channel profits depend on ratings and subscriptions, and in today’s “content is king” era, only great programming can capture audiences. Those unwilling to innovate will fall behind.

Partnering with MOD — ELTA Achieves New Milestones
From HD coverage of the Beijing Olympics, to 3D coverage of London 2012, to 4K broadcasts of the Russia World Cup, ELTA and MOD have continuously redefined sports broadcasting experiences. Beyond live sports, ELTA has been dedicated to producing original high-quality programs such as “Chef Alliance,” “Busy Online,” “Campus Mysteries,” “800 Days Around the World,” “Celebrations of the Earth,” “Around the Nations,” and “Wild Dream Chasers.” These productions, recognized by consecutive Golden Bell nominations, not only strengthen ELTA’s competitiveness but also generate overseas licensing revenue.

Enhancing Content to Attract Subscribers
In a diverse and competitive media landscape, differentiation is the ultimate edge. MOD’s customizable plan marks the start of this transformation. The “one-size-fits-all” era is over — channels must deliver compelling content to win subscribers. In this new wave of competition, ELTA stands with MOD, connecting Taiwan to the world through premium digital entertainment.

Chef Alliance Wins Big – ELTA TV Nominated for Golden Bell Awards Two Years in a Row

Extra! Extra! ELTA TV’s original program “Chef Alliance” has been nominated for the 54th Golden Bell Awards in the Lifestyle Program category. This marks ELTA’s second consecutive nomination for its self-produced shows, following last year’s “800 Days Around the World” hosted by Shou Tzu-Chen. With back-to-back nominations, ELTA’s production quality has earned high praise from the judges. We will continue to produce even more high-quality, entertaining content — and we invite viewers to cheer for us as we look forward to the awards ceremony!

ELTA’s Original Programs Go Global, Boosting Revenue
In today’s diversified media landscape, unique and creative content is key to attracting audiences. Over recent years, ELTA has produced numerous original programs, such as “Chef Alliance,” “Busy Online,” “Campus Mysteries,” “800 Days Around the World,” “Celebrations of the Earth,” “Around the Nations,” and “Wild Dream Chasers.” These diverse programs not only enrich ELTA’s channel lineup but also strengthen its production capabilities. As these shows are sold overseas, they enhance ELTA’s international reputation and generate additional licensing revenue.

Second Consecutive Golden Bell Nomination — Recognition for ELTA
Following last year’s nomination of “800 Days Around the World,” ELTA has once again impressed the Golden Bell jury with “Chef Alliance,” nominated for Best Lifestyle Program. Unlike typical food shows, “Chef Alliance” focuses purely on the culinary experience — no gimmicks, no distractions. Each episode features three chefs cooking simultaneously at different ingredient origins, creating dishes on-site using fresh local produce. The program’s cross-edited, fast-paced format allows viewers to enjoy three unique culinary showcases within one hour.
Beyond culinary creativity, the show also educates audiences on how to choose the best local ingredients. From abalone in Gongliao (New Taipei), goji berries in Guanyin (Taoyuan), to strawberries in Dahu (Miaoli), the chefs introduce Taiwan’s diverse produce through engaging storytelling — teaching viewers how to eat fresh and healthy.

“Chef Alliance” Re-Air Schedule — September 11, 9 PM
To celebrate its Golden Bell nomination, “Chef Alliance” will re-air on ELTA Variety Channel (CH300) every Monday to Wednesday at 9 PM starting September 11. Viewers who missed it the first time shouldn’t miss this rebroadcast. Join us in anticipating the October 5 awards ceremony — may “Chef Alliance” bring home the Golden Bell!

Telecom Veteran Yao Chen’s Grandson Wins US "Presidential Scholar Award"

The U.S. “Presidential Scholars Award” is widely regarded as the highest honor for American high school students. Established in 1964 by executive order of the U.S. President, the award recognizes outstanding graduating seniors nationwide. There are two categories: Academic Excellence and Artistic Achievement. Each state can nominate only two students (one male and one female), along with additional nominees from at-large and special talent categories, making this one of the most prestigious awards an American high school student can receive.

“Presidential Scholars Award” — The Highest Honor for U.S. High School Students
Now in its 55th year, the Presidential Scholars Award is presented annually to 161 exceptional graduating seniors. From an initial pool of 5,100 students with the highest SAT/ACT scores, candidates are further evaluated on extracurricular activities, leadership, and community service. A 12-member commission ultimately selects 121 academic scholars, 20 in the arts, and 20 in technical education — totaling 161 honorees. With roughly 3.6 million high school graduates each year, only one in 25,000 earns this award, making it an exceptionally rare and distinguished achievement.

Grandson of Former Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Honored — A Different Kind of Taiwanese Pride
Among this year’s honorees, Ethan Chen from the State of Nebraska — grandson of former Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Yao Chen — proudly represented Taiwanese heritage. Ethan, born into an academic family, is the son of Dr. Li-Wu Chen, a distinguished graduate of National Taiwan University and current tenured professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and his mother, Lei Huang, originally from Hong Kong. Ethan’s grandfather, Yao Chen, served as Director-General of the Directorate General of Telecommunications and became Chunghwa Telecom’s first Chairman after privatization. When Ethan was born, he suffered from acute pneumonia, leaving his family in Taiwan deeply worried and praying for recovery. Over a decade later, his grandfather’s joy was immense upon seeing Ethan not only recover but also win the prestigious Presidential Scholars Award.

Overcoming Illness, Giving Back Through Volunteering
When asked how he stood out among so many top students, Ethan humbly said he was “just lucky,” praising his fellow nominees as equally outstanding. While academic performance was a given, leadership and community service became decisive factors. Ethan was captain of the school’s Science Olympiad team, concertmaster of the symphony orchestra, and a member of the swim team. He also excelled in chess and violin, earning additional recognition. Motivated by his childhood illness, he volunteered at a children’s hospital to care for young patients — giving back to the community that once helped him.

Choosing UCLA Over Parents’ Alma Mater
This fall, Ethan will enter the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as a freshman. Though both his parents graduated from the University of Michigan, Ethan chose UCLA for its scholarships, resources, and proximity to California’s tech hub — positioning himself near Silicon Valley and Los Angeles for future opportunities.

The 161 Presidential Scholars each achieved excellence in diverse fields — from perfect SAT/ACT scores to extraordinary artistic or technical talents, or by overcoming personal adversity. Their drive for excellence will continue to guide them on their lifelong journey of learning.

Once every four years, it’s time to go crazy for the FIFA World Cup™ — just tune in to Chunghwa Telecom MOD! The 21st FIFA World Cup™ will kick off on June 14, 2018, in Moscow, Russia, for 32 days of intense competition. ELTA Technology (8487) has secured the Taiwan broadcast rights for the third consecutive time and will deliver exclusive live coverage of all 64 matches, including the opening and closing ceremonies, through three major platforms: “Chunghwa Telecom MOD CH 201 ELTA Sports 2, CH 202 ELTA Sports 3,” “Hami Video,” and “ELTA TV (ELTA OTT).”

Final Match and 80% of Group Stage Games Without Staying Up Late
The 2018 FIFA World Cup™ schedule is extremely viewer-friendly for Taiwanese audiences. Thanks to the time difference, over 80% of group stage matches and more than 60% of all games will start before 11 p.m. in Taiwan. Best of all, both the opening and final matches will kick off at exactly 11 p.m. On the third day of the tournament (Saturday, June 16, 6 p.m.), powerhouse France will face Australia, allowing fans to enjoy prime-time football as stars Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud showcase the flair of “Les Bleus.” Later that same evening, Lionel Messi will lead Argentina against Iceland, one of the most talked-about teams in recent years. On the second day, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will take on 2010 champions Spain — a heavyweight clash that will make the group stage the talk of the summer.

Minimal Time Difference, Maximum Excitement — World Cup Fever to Boost ELTA Revenue
Every World Cup season, Taiwan is never absent from the excitement. Whether casual fans or hardcore analysts, football fever sweeps the nation. Despite unfavorable time zones in 2014 Brazil, Taiwan still recorded NT$2.4 billion in total bets — eight times that of 2010 South Africa. With more convenient viewing times this year, another “national football frenzy” is expected, and ratings are projected to soar. ELTA CEO Sally Chen noted that FIFA raises its licensing fees every tournament, with this year’s rights increasing by over 50%. Nearly 70% of matches will start before 11 p.m., and as the only broadcaster airing all 64 matches (including 48 exclusive group-stage games), ELTA is set to see significant growth in advertising, public screenings, and MOD/OTT subscriptions. These factors will drive revenue growth for ELTA Technology (8487).

With daily action-packed games and enthusiastic viewer response, ELTA will roll out top-tier commentators, engaging pre- and post-game shows, interactive trivia, and warm-up programs — fulfilling its role as the leading professional sports broadcaster and leading Taiwan into the full-blown World Cup craze!

Sports Expertise Deeply Rooted – ELTA is the Best Choice for Asian Games Broadcast

The 18th Asian Games, the top multi-sport event in Asia held once every four years, will take place from August 18 to September 2 in Jakarta and Palembang. This is the first time the Games are hosted by two cities, with participation from 45 countries, bringing together 15,000 athletes and officials and 5,000 journalists — totaling about 20,000 attendees. ELTA TV will deliver nearly 1,400 hours of broadcast coverage, allowing viewers across Taiwan to stay up-to-date with the latest performances of Chinese Taipei athletes anytime, anywhere.

Cross-Platform Coverage — Seamless Viewing Experience to Meet Audience Needs
This year’s Asian Games broadcast spans multiple media platforms, including free-to-air TV (PTS), cable TV (Videoland, Eastern Television), MOD (ELTA TV), and OTT services (Hami Video, ELTA.tv, LiTV, LINE TODAY), ensuring viewers can follow events wherever they go. This cross-media collaboration marks one of the most comprehensive efforts in recent years, offering audiences the most immediate, accessible, and convenient viewing experience — truly achieving the goal of “Everyone Watching the Asian Games.” ELTA CEO Sally Chen stated: “This is our first time successfully licensing Asian Games and Olympic content across multiple media outlets, allowing Taiwanese audiences to enjoy this grand sports event through various platforms and broadcasters. We also hope such collaborations will positively foster the growth of Taiwan’s sports industry.” In addition to its cross-platform reach, this year’s broadcast duration is the longest ever. ELTA will produce nearly 400 hours of Chinese-language commentary for MOD channels ELTA Sports 1 (CH200), 2 (CH201), and 3 (CH202). Viewers can also catch up via on-demand services or stream seamlessly through Hami Video and ELTA.tv (ELTA OTT) on their phones, computers, or tablets — cheering for Team Taiwan anytime, anywhere.
If your favorite events overlap in schedule, no worries! Simply tune in to ELTA TV on MOD, and use Hami Video or ELTA TV online to watch multiple matches simultaneously across devices. This MOD + OTT model opens a new viewing experience — one cloud, multiple screens, multiple events — beyond traditional single-screen sports watching. Furthermore, ELTA also offers six original English-language Asian Games channels, providing nearly 1,000 hours of live content available for paid streaming on Chunghwa Telecom’s Hami Video and ELTA.tv (ELTA OTT). With 400 hours of Chinese commentary plus 1,000 hours of original English feeds, even the most devoted sports fans will have all their needs met!

Deep Commitment to Sports — ELTA's Broadcast Expertise Builds Its Reputation
Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ELTA TV has accumulated experience from three consecutive Olympic Games, multiple Asian Games, and the Youth Olympics — unmatched by any other Taiwanese broadcaster. Covering such massive multi-sport events is notoriously difficult, yet ELTA’s strength lies in years of dedicated sports broadcasting across disciplines, demonstrating its exceptional professionalism. Combined with consistent coverage of premier events like the CPBL, BWF World Tour, PGA Tour, and various World Cups and Championships — even local grassroots tournaments — ELTA’s production team has established a strong foundation. The network’s dedication has earned recognition industry-wide, with both domestic and international organizations seeking collaborations. Fans also frequently request ELTA to broadcast their favorite events — a testament to ELTA’s strong reputation as Taiwan’s leading sports network.

Star-Studded Team — Continuing the World Cup Momentum
Building on the excitement of the World Cup, ELTA TV has fully mobilized for the Asian Games! Led by top commentators from the World Cup — Hung Chih-Wei, Hsieh Szu-I, and Liu Yun-Yang — joined by Olympic gold medalist Chen Yi-An, and veteran anchors Wu Ying-Ta, Chen Yao-Chi, and Chen Hsin-Hung. Other key hosts include Wu Sheng-Fu, Chen Yu-Wei, volleyball announcer Wei Chu-Yu, and expert analysts such as Olympic champions Qin Yu-Fang, basketball expert Kao Ching-Yen, golf publisher Lin Jui-Hsiang, and former Olympians Liu Pi-Yu (archery) and Tsai Hui-Min (badminton), along with sports commentators Shi Ming-Chin (“Left Bank Thinker”) and Chen Chia-Ming (“Ginola”). This golden lineup ensures rich, insightful, and engaging coverage — keeping the nation’s passion alive from last year’s Universiade and this summer’s World Cup. Four ELTA reporters are also on-site in Indonesia, delivering firsthand reports.

Government and Associations Join Hands — Promoting “Everyone Watching the Asian Games”
Large-scale sports broadcasts require teamwork. For international events like the Asian Games, government and public support are crucial. ELTA extends thanks to the Ministry of Education’s Sports Administration, the Sports Development Committee, and the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee for their assistance. Appreciation also goes to Taiwan Sports Lottery for providing financial mechanisms that strengthen sports development and international participation. ELTA hopes this collaborative model will continue, attracting even more major international sports events to Taiwan and benefiting viewers nationwide.

With Jakarta and Palembang just one hour behind Taiwan, broadcast schedules will be convenient for local audiences, ensuring nationwide attention. Riding the momentum of the World Cup and the Taipei Universiade, ELTA and its partners aim to achieve comprehensive coverage and ignite collective national pride as fans cheer for Team Taiwan and witness moments of glory.

Many of Taiwan’s sports stars — including boxer Chen Nien-chin, badminton player Lee Chia-hsin, archer Tan Ya-ting, weightlifters Kuo Hsing-chun and Chiang Nien-hsin, and track and field athletes Cheng Chao-tsun and Yang Chun-han — first shined at the Youth Olympics, gaining confidence that later carried them to stardom. Through coverage of the previous two Youth Olympics, ELTA has documented the growth of these Taiwanese champions. Even Chinese tennis player Zheng Saisai, who rose to fame in recent years, first made her mark at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games — showing how vital this event is for young athletes.

Youth Olympic Spirit — Returning to the Roots of Sportsmanship
The Youth Olympics differs from traditional sports events by minimizing commercial elements, focusing instead on nurturing young talent. The idea originated from former IOC President Jacques Rogge, who took office in 2001 and sought to reinforce Olympic values among youth. His vision for a global sporting event dedicated to young athletes was endorsed by the IOC in 2007, leading to the first Youth Olympics in Singapore (2010) and the second in Nanjing, China (2014).

Taiwan Team Sets New Record — 61 Athletes Competing in Buenos Aires
In the past two Youth Olympic Games, Taiwan’s athletes earned a total of 3 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze medals. This year, the team will send a record-breaking 61 athletes competing in 20 disciplines. Tennis bronze medalist Liang En-shuo, rising men’s tennis star Tseng Chun-hsin, and young archer Tang Chih-chun will all aim for gold. With many promising international stars also competing, thrilling matches are guaranteed. ELTA TV will exclusively broadcast this world-class U18 multi-sport event in Taiwan — a spectacle you won’t want to miss!

ELTA’s Dedication to Sports — Inviting You to Cheer for Taiwan
2018 is a landmark year for global sports. From the Winter Olympics and FIFA World Cup to the Asian Games and now the Youth Olympics, plus major leagues like the BWF Badminton World Tour and CPBL, ELTA continues to bring world-class action to fans. Upcoming highlights include the UEFA Champions League, the High School Baseball “Black Panther Cup,” the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship, and the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix. Crisis Management Recognized – ELTA CEO Wins SUPER MVP Honor

The 2018 FIFA World Cup™ in Russia swept across Taiwan with overwhelming enthusiasm. On the first day, over 100,000 online viewers flooded ELTA’s OTT platform, causing temporary service disruptions and preventing smooth live streaming. Facing this sudden crisis, ELTA’s entire team acted swiftly and decisively, resolving the issue within 30 hours — turning a viewing “pain point” (inaccessible service) into a “delight point” (free viewing). Their effective crisis management earned CEO Sally Chen a place among “Top 100 MVP Managers of 2018” and the prestigious title of “Super MVP of the Year” by *Manager Today* magazine.

“The World Cup Streaming Crisis” — Resolved in 30 Hours
At 8 p.m. on June 14, ELTA’s technical team reported service instability during the first match. CEO Sally Chen immediately activated the emergency response protocol to address the surge in streaming traffic. Despite these efforts, the massive and unexpected influx overwhelmed the system, ending the first day with service interruptions. After receiving a flood of customer complaints, Chen promptly announced a compensation plan for subscribers while preparing additional measures. On the second night, traffic spiked again, and realizing the infrastructure could no longer handle paid traffic alone, Chen made a bold decision: make all World Cup matches free to watch on the OTT platform without login requirements, alongside bitrate adjustments to stabilize service. Partnering with Chunghwa Telecom for differentiation, ELTA successfully resolved the “World Cup streaming glitch” within 30 hours.

Effective Crisis Management — Sally Chen Named Super MVP
The quick and decisive crisis handling drew wide praise and invitations for Chen to share her experience on how to turn a crisis into opportunity — and opportunity into growth. Under her leadership, ELTA’s World Cup coverage achieved remarkable results, benefiting all parties: the Sports Administration, ELTA, Chunghwa Telecom, CTS, Taiwan Sports Lottery, and viewers. *Manager Today* recognized her innovative and decisive management, naming her both among 2018’s “Top 100 MVP Managers” and the “Super MVP of the Year.” Judges unanimously praised Chen’s leadership and innovation as exemplary for all professional managers in Taiwan.

Crisis Management Principles — Solve Pain Points, Deliver Delight Points
Reflecting on the experience, Chen said, “Anyone can succeed in good times — true management is tested in adversity.” She emphasized that crisis management requires two key steps: solving pain points and delivering delight points. Initially, ELTA had to resolve the viewers’ frustration of being unable to watch. By expanding bandwidth and removing authentication barriers, they quickly restored access. Then, by offering free, open streaming, ELTA delighted audiences and regained goodwill. This dual approach minimized the crisis impact. Effective crisis management, she noted, relies on learning from past failures, preparing contingency plans, and always addressing both pain and delight.

Swift, Decisive, and Strategic — “Cut Fast, Cut Clean”
Chen summarized her management philosophy with “Cut fast, cut clean.” In a crisis, decisions must be made quickly and precisely — sacrificing short-term revenue for long-term trust. By temporarily giving up OTT income, ELTA protected its partners and audiences, ensuring a positive outcome. “If you don’t cut when you must,” she said, “you’ll lose control entirely.”

From Setback to Success — ELTA’s Resurgence
From the setback of the 2016 Rio Olympics to the rebound of 2018’s major events — the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Russia World Cup, Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games, and Buenos Aires Youth Olympics — ELTA achieved exceptional results, closing 2018 with resounding success.

ELTA Builds Mobile Broadcast Van – Asian Archery Cup Debuts on 9/13

To expand local sports coverage, ELTA upgraded its broadcasting capabilities by introducing Taiwan’s first mobile production van — designed to deliver top-tier live coverage of domestic sporting events. Its debut broadcast took place on September 13 with the Asian Cup Archery Tournament, providing audiences with the most professional and immersive viewing experience.

Since its launch in 2008, ELTA has been committed to local sports broadcasting. After years of effort, the company unveiled a fully equipped mobile broadcasting system featuring six HD cameras (including long-zoom lenses), a slow-motion replay machine, an advanced graphics system, and full audio control equipment. Combined with a team of experienced technicians, commentators, and producers, ELTA ensures that even grassroots competitions are presented with world-class production quality.

The September 13 Asian Cup Archery Tournament featured the men’s and women’s recurve individual finals, all broadcast in high definition. Later in the month, ELTA covered national baseball events, including the National Baseball Championship, followed by October’s Black Panther Cup (high school baseball) and the Meihua Cup (college baseball). Viewers can watch on Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD or the upgraded ELTA OTT platform — accessible via TV, computer, tablet, or smartphone anytime, anywhere.

CEO Sally Chen stated that the mobile production van enhances flexibility and enables ELTA to support grassroots sports with better coverage. “We plan to produce at least 19 in-house events this quarter and over 38 next year,” Chen said. Beyond sports, the van will also serve for live coverage of conferences, concerts, and community events. Face-to-Face Forum with Sister Xiao Ying Live – hievent Video Service Support

At the “Your Generation, Our Future: A Forum with Sister Tsai” event organized by *Business Weekly*, Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA’s cloud video service “hievent” provided live online streaming, ensuring the discussion reached a broader audience.

The forum gathered high school students from across Taiwan to ask President-elect Tsai Ing-Wen their most pressing questions. “Education reform” emerged as the top concern. Tsai encouraged students to break free from the mindset that youth limits their potential. She emphasized that after high school, university should not be the only option, and that young people must engage with society instead of isolating themselves academically. “You must connect with society and break away from the idea that success means only being ‘highly educated,’” she said. For students unable to attend, the event was streamed live via Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA’s hievent service.

In the 4G era, Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA’s *hievent* platform has powered numerous live broadcasts for both corporate and public events — including Legislative Yuan proceedings, Delta Electronics investor meetings, the 18th Golden Diamond Awards, and Taipei Philharmonic’s spring concert. Through hievent, organizations can broadcast content seamlessly across multiple devices, allowing audiences to access information anytime, anywhere.

*hievent* offers a one-stop solution — from on-site filming to live streaming and post-production VOD hosting. Businesses can avoid complex vendor coordination while enjoying custom-branded playback pages featuring their own logos, strengthening brand recognition and audience engagement.

As the *.TV* era dawns, corporate marketing is shifting from static *.com* content to dynamic video promotion — and *hievent* stands as the ultimate choice for enterprise video communication and branding.

Short Film Competition with Big Prizes – ELTA Seeks Excellent Scripts

To nurture local talent in digital storytelling and strengthen Taiwan’s film and television competitiveness, ELTA Technology partnered with the “Chunghwa Telecom 2016 Digital Innovation Application Series Competition” to establish the “ELTA Script Collaboration Award,” offering a NT$600,000 grant to the winning screenplay.

As digital convergence reshapes media, devices like computers, smartphones, and tablets have become new platforms for video content. Traditional TV’s dominance is fading, and in this multi-platform era, compelling content has become the key to audience engagement. CEO Sally Chen stated that high-quality content is essential for media success. The ELTA Script Collaboration Award aims to discover outstanding scripts for ELTA’s first original drama production, scheduled to begin within two years. In addition, in line with Taiwan’s Satellite Broadcasting Act revisions — which encourage media to fulfill social responsibilities and promote local culture — ELTA hopes this initiative will give emerging creators a meaningful platform to showcase their work.

The award selection takes place within the “MOD Microfilm and Short Film Creation Contest,” part of the Chunghwa Telecom 2016 competition series. ELTA will select promising microfilm submissions and commission the winning team to adapt their short film into a mini-series script, which could become ELTA’s first original drama. The winning team will receive NT$600,000 and have their work broadcast on ELTA’s TV channels.

A strong script is the foundation of great storytelling. By offering a generous award, ELTA hopes to encourage young Taiwanese creators and students to pursue digital media production — transforming quality written stories into screen adaptations that elevate Taiwan’s film and TV industry and expand its global reach.

In 2016, ELTA TV will take you to Rio de Janeiro to relive the glorious moments of our national athletes competing for Olympic medals.

Every four years, Team Taiwan inspires pride and excitement with their Olympic performances. No problem — with VOD and time-shift viewing, fans can watch anytime and replay their favorite moments endlessly. Staying true to its tech-driven DNA, ELTA will also debut 4K “Road to Rio” preview programs in early 2016, following its success with 3D Olympic broadcasts in 2012.

As ELTA strives to deliver the best Olympic coverage for Taiwanese viewers, our athletes continue their quest to qualify for Rio. So far, Team Taiwan has secured 22 slots — including 7 in weightlifting, 4 in archery, several in shooting (Lin Yi-Chun, Wu Chia-Ying), tennis (Chan Yung-Jan, Chan Hao-Ching), track and field (Chen Chieh, Hsiang Chun-Hsien, Hsu Yu-Fang, Ho Chin-Ping, Hsieh Chien-Ho, Chen Yu-Hsuan), and equestrian (Wang Yi-Hsiu). **A Comprehensive BBC-ELTA Partnership: A Triple-Win for All**
Popular BBC programs such as *Doctor Who*, *Primeval*, and *Hustle* will now air on ELTA TV channels, with additional access through MOD’s on-demand service. The partnership with BBC marks only the beginning — ELTA plans to introduce and represent even more premium international channels in the future.

Top Choice for Corporate Presentations – Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA Promote hievent Cloud Video Service

With the convenience of the internet and global investment, many listed companies now offer online investor conferences, allowing investors worldwide to participate virtually. Beyond investor briefings, major events such as Apple’s iPhone 6 launch, government press conferences, and CPBL TV also provide live streaming. The advancement of broadband technology has made audiovisual broadcasting easier than ever. Recognizing this opportunity, Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA jointly launched “hievent” — Taiwan’s first one-stop cloud video broadcasting service designed for businesses — offering high-quality enterprise-grade live streaming solutions.

From line setup and on-site filming to live or on-demand (VOD) streaming, hievent provides businesses with a convenient, all-in-one audiovisual service package.

**Investor Conference Broadcasting – hievent as the Top Choice**
As the saying goes, “A worker must first sharpen his tools to do good work.” Investor conferences provide listed companies with opportunities to formally communicate and boost exposure — but without quality broadcasting, their impact is diminished. Co-developed by Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA, hievent offers multiple viewing options, professional filming, synchronized video and presentation playback, stable network bandwidth, and dedicated corporate streaming pages. ELTA CEO Sally Chen described hievent as “the corporate version of YouTube,” enabling companies to easily create branded channels. hievent integrates ELTA’s video production expertise with Chunghwa Telecom’s OTT cloud streaming technology to deliver seamless enterprise-grade broadcasting.

Beyond investor relations, hievent also supports online corporate training, product launches, press conferences, concerts, and seminars. Whether live or on-demand, video content can be streamed via hievent’s high-speed, stable streaming technology to any device — tablets, phones, or PCs.

**One-Stop Service – Simple and Efficient**
hievent’s greatest advantage is its one-stop solution — covering filming, live streaming, and VOD hosting. This saves businesses from the hassle of coordinating multiple vendors. Custom-branded corporate pages allow companies to feature their logos and strengthen brand identity and recognition.

Incheon Asian Games Broadcast Press Conference

After the conclusion of the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games, the 17th Asian Games opened on September 19 in Incheon, South Korea. When it comes to major international sporting event coverage, ELTA TV is always on the front line. Following the Sochi Winter Olympics, the Brazil World Cup, and the Nanjing Youth Olympics earlier this year, ELTA once again partnered with Chunghwa Telecom to secure broadcasting rights for the Incheon Asian Games, allowing Taiwanese audiences to witness Team Taiwan’s athletes compete in real time.

ELTA CEO Sally Chen stated that the Asian Games, held every four years, reflect ELTA’s ongoing passion and commitment to sports broadcasting. She hopes that the team, which has long covered Taiwan’s athletes, will once again bring heartfelt, high-quality coverage that resonates with viewers across Taiwan.

Chunghwa Telecom’s New Media Division Director, Lin Mao-Hsing, noted that high-definition multi-platform coverage (mobile, internet, MOD) allows users to follow the games through multiple devices — whether on the couch or on the move — ensuring they never miss a moment of the action.

Taiwan sent its largest-ever delegation to the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, aiming for outstanding results. Two rising stars who won gold at the Nanjing Youth Olympics — taekwondo athlete Huang Huai-Hsuan and weightlifter Chiang Nien-Hsin — joined the event’s promotion to cheer on their teammates, hoping the Taiwan team would win even more medals.

Sports Administration Director Ho Cho-Fei emphasized that this year’s Asian Games serve as a critical test for Taiwan’s preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics, with team performance playing a key role in shaping future sports policy.

The 2014 Incheon Asian Games opened on September 19 and continued through October 4. Taiwanese viewers could follow ELTA TV’s exclusive coverage via Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD, Hami mobile TV, and HiChannel online platforms — ensuring no fan misses the chance to cheer for Taiwan’s athletes.

ELTA General Agent, Multi-Screen One Cloud for World Cup Fever

ELTA TV’s professionalism has once again gained international recognition. Following its successful broadcasts of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Singapore Youth Olympic Games, and the 2012 London Olympics, ELTA has once again secured exclusive broadcasting rights for another major international sporting event — the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Covering all 64 matches in full HD and bilingual format, ELTA TV (available on MOD, HiNet, and Hami platforms) will deliver simultaneous live coverage across all platforms. This marks the first time in Taiwan’s history that a new media company has obtained exclusive broadcasting rights for the World Cup.

In 2010, during the South Africa World Cup, ELTA fearlessly entered the broadcasting arena and acquired new media rights for Taiwan. Through its HD quality, bilingual coverage, professional commentary, and 3D public screenings, ELTA earned wide acclaim for its production quality and innovation. Its strong performance on MOD was the clearest testament to viewer approval. Four years later, ELTA reached new heights by securing the general agency for the Brazil World Cup, promising Taiwan’s fans an even more exciting, professional, and seamless viewing experience. ELTA CEO Sally Chen stated: “ELTA is a technology-driven new media company! Our impressive performance during the South Africa World Cup earned FIFA’s recognition. Combined with our experience as the exclusive broadcaster for the 2012 London Olympics and our advanced cross-platform technology, this has proven ELTA to be an outstanding broadcasting partner. That’s why FIFA chose to collaborate with us for the 2014 Brazil World Cup.”

For this year’s World Cup, ELTA will broadcast all 64 matches in HD with bilingual live commentary. Partnering exclusively with Chunghwa Telecom, ELTA will offer a multi-screen, cloud-integrated service across TV (MOD), internet (HiNet), and mobile (Hami), allowing fans to “take the games with them” — watch anywhere, anytime, without interruption. On-demand (VOD) and time-shift/replay functions will help viewers overcome time-zone differences, so there’s no need to stay up late to catch matches. Viewers can rewatch goals instantly on VOD. Complementing the world-class matches, ELTA’s renowned “Football Trio” — commentators Hung Chih-Wei and Hsieh Szu-Yi, along with analyst Shih Ming-Chin — will deliver top-quality professional coverage throughout the tournament.

Beyond the World Cup (starting June 13), ELTA will continue offering major international sports broadcasts in 2014, including the Sochi Winter Olympics (from February 8), the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup (from March 15), the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (from August 5), and the Nanjing Youth Olympics (from August 16). With such a rich lineup of world-class sporting events, ELTA remains Taiwan’s most professional and diverse sports channel — your best destination for premium digital sports entertainment!

ELTA CEO Sally Chen Wins "100 MVP Managers"

Since 2008, Manager Today magazine has held the annual “100 MVP Managers Awards” to honor outstanding professional managers whose leadership and contributions serve as models for organizations and society. This year, ELTA Technology CEO Sally Chen was selected as an MVP Manager in the “Production Innovation” category, standing out among many industry leaders. The award recognizes ELTA’s innovative applications in digital video production and broadcasting.

Production innovation means systematically adjusting, reorganizing, and overseeing resources to achieve maximum productivity with minimal consumption. During the London Olympics, ELTA launched 14 HD channels and 1 3D channel for broadcasting, along with multi-screen technology that allowed viewers to watch live events anytime, anywhere, without device limitations. This year, ELTA also developed its proprietary high-definition video storage system, “ABYSS,” which enhances video storage safety and convenience while significantly reducing costs.

ELTA Technology Wins Golden Peak Award – Outstanding Enterprise and Model Entrepreneur Honors

As Taiwan’s innovative new media leader, ELTA Technology has been recognized for its commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and continuous advancement in audiovisual services. In 2013, ELTA received the 15th Golden Peak Award for Outstanding Enterprise of the Year, and CEO Sally Chen was honored as an Outstanding Entrepreneurial Model. The award ceremony was held on May 24 at the CPC Building, where CEO Chen accepted the crystal trophy and certificate from Vice President Wu Den-Yih.

The “Golden Peak Award for Outstanding Enterprise of the Republic of China” honors exceptional companies, leaders, products, and innovations to promote Taiwan’s economic development. In 2013, more than 400 companies competed, with winners selected based on their management philosophy, corporate culture, performance, innovation, and talent cultivation. Notable winners included ELTA Technology, Cathay United Bank, Allianz Global Life, and Pfizer. ELTA, a technology-driven new media company, was recognized as the Outstanding SME of the Year for its diversified and innovative digital services. CEO Chen stated, “ELTA understands that professionalism and innovation create competitive advantage. Since our founding in 2000, we’ve set milestones in Taiwan’s digital video industry — launching Taiwan’s first video service portal, its first HD channel family, and becoming the first media company to broadcast the Olympics in HD and 3D. These achievements reflect the hard work and dedication of all ELTA employees.”

In addition to ELTA’s enterprise award, CEO Chen was also honored as an Outstanding Entrepreneurial Model. Starting with just NT$1 million in capital, she has built ELTA into a company worth over NT$100 million, paving a unique path in Taiwan’s new media landscape. Throughout her entrepreneurial journey, she has faced numerous challenges but always tackled them head-on with decisiveness and precision, shaping ELTA into an innovative industry leader. Reflecting on her journey, Chen remarked, “The road to entrepreneurship is lonely and difficult — you must keep moving forward, solving problems as they arise. Only through diligence, practicality, passion, and persistence can you realize your entrepreneurial dream.”

Renowned director Ang Lee once said, “With every bit of mastery comes a bit of ease.” When people gain control, they become less anxious and more capable; as their depth grows, so does their calmness. Over five years, ELTA has broadcast two Olympic Games and one FIFA World Cup, growing professionally and expanding its global vision through international collaboration. This award symbolizes recognition of ELTA’s continued effort and success. ELTA will keep innovating and providing audiences with diverse digital media experiences, allowing everyone to enjoy the convenience of the digital audiovisual era.

ELTA Sends Love to Taitung, Caring for Disadvantaged Children

Upholding the belief of “giving back to society what is taken from society,” ELTA TV has been actively involved in charitable and public welfare activities. In addition to offering free public service advertising time to help social welfare organizations promote their causes, ELTA has also dedicated resources to assist those in need. This time, ELTA extended its charitable reach to eastern Taiwan, donating funds to support the Taitung Christian Onesiphorus Children’s Home, helping children and adolescents in need.

All corporate resources, operations, and profits are derived from society; therefore, as a responsible corporate citizen, a company must give back. ELTA CEO Sally Chen believes that under the concept of “Sustainable Development,” businesses should not merely pursue profit but should engage with communities, participate in society, support the underprivileged, and contribute to building a better world. To focus corporate resources for maximum effectiveness, ELTA decided to concentrate its charitable efforts on two main areas: “Cultural and Educational Care” and “Environmental Protection & Energy Saving.” CEO Chen emphasized that children and the environment will be the core themes of ELTA’s philanthropy, both rooted in the idea of sustainability — because only by nurturing the next generation can society continue to progress, and only with a good living environment can humanity sustain itself. The donation to the Taitung Christian Onesiphorus Children’s Home reflects ELTA’s care for the next generation, helping disadvantaged children grow up safely and become productive members of society.

Reverend Lü Li-Han, Director of the Taitung Christian Onesiphorus Children’s Home, expressed deep gratitude for ELTA’s generosity. He noted that due to the home’s remote location, resources are limited, and long-term support from all sectors is essential to provide better care for the children. The home was originally established to care for children with polio but has since transitioned to assisting children from disadvantaged or special circumstances as medical standards improved. Currently, 73 children live there under a family-style management system that trains them for independent living after graduating from high school. Reverend Lü explained that the home’s early funding came entirely from donations by American church congregations, but now, aside from limited government subsidies, it relies heavily on donations from the public. One of its long-term benefactors is Taitung’s well-known charitable vendor, Chen Shu-Chu.

By wisely using limited resources to fulfill its corporate social responsibility — “taking from society and giving back to society” — ELTA aims to create a kinder and more compassionate community. CEO Chen stated that ELTA will continue to contribute resources to charitable causes and hopes that others will join in spreading love and warmth, giving children a brighter and more beautiful future.

Venturing into Cloud Technology, ELTA Participates in "Taiwan Cloud Valley" Exhibition

The “Taiwan Cloud Valley,” created by the Taiwan Cloud Computing Industry Association, held its inauguration ceremony on March 14 at Chunghwa Telecom’s Da’an Building in Taipei. Premier Sean Chen attended the event and encouraged the industry, expressing hope that “Taiwan Cloud Valley” would become even more diverse than Silicon Valley in the United States, with the government fully supporting industrial development. Association Chairman Hsueh-Chin Lu thanked both government agencies and industry participants for their active involvement, stating that the Cloud Valley Demonstration Center aims to showcase Taiwan’s cloud hardware and software capabilities, connect local companies with global opportunities, and provide the public with a place to experience and understand cloud services.

In recent years, ELTA Technology has actively ventured into the cloud industry. At the Cloud Valley Demonstration Center, it unveiled its self-developed “Digital Media Storage Cloud” for the first time. Utilizing a cloud-based architecture and management concept, this platform can serve multiple digital media companies, functioning as a “Digital Media Storage Platform” under the Platform as a Service (PaaS) model. Having operated HD television for three years, ELTA found no suitable large-scale storage solution on the market that met its needs. Therefore, in early 2009, it began developing its own system with a focus on data security and storage density, emphasizing automation and unified management to reduce operating costs. Its massive storage capacity benefits the digital media industry as well as organizations requiring large-scale digital archiving — such as libraries, film repositories, and national historical preservation institutions.

Participating companies in “Taiwan Cloud Valley” include international giants such as Microsoft, Intel, and AMD, as well as Taiwanese firms like Chunghwa Telecom, ASUS, and ELTA Technology — a total of 27 companies. The “Taiwan Cloud Valley” initiative is planned in three phases: the first phase is the opening of the Demonstration Center on March 14; the second phase involves building a shared cloud platform within the center to incubate cloud startups and form an industrial cluster, expected to be completed in 2013; and the third phase will expand to other sites, including the New Taipei Cloud Valley and additional parks, creating Taiwan’s largest “Cloud Application Software” industrial cluster by 2014.

ELTA TV Third Anniversary, More Diverse Video Services

Taiwan’s media industry is fiercely competitive, with over a hundred terrestrial, cable, and MOD channels. For a new channel to stand out in such an environment is no easy task. Amid this competition, ELTA TV became the first to fully adopt HD production equipment, leading viewers into a new world of high-definition viewing. After three years of dedicated effort, ELTA successfully established its brand reputation through HD programming. Its diverse HD content — sports, Korean dramas, educational, lifestyle, and culinary shows — has made ELTA TV’s three channels some of the most popular on the MOD platform.

HD as a Competitive Edge
“The sweat on players’ foreheads,” “the pain on athletes’ faces after impact” — all vividly captured by HD cameras — represent the new visual frontier of high-definition television. Three years ago, when most Taiwanese broadcasters were still using SD equipment and few viewers had even heard of HD, ELTA decided to fully transition to HD production to offer viewers an unprecedented visual experience. CEO Sally Chen noted, “HD digitalization is an inevitable trend. For ELTA TV, a new channel in the media market, HD was the key differentiator.” The superior resolution and quality of HD make it irresistible — once viewers experience it, they rarely return to standard definition, especially for sports broadcasts. Sports coverage demands realism and immersion, from basketball shots to home plate collisions — making HD the ideal format.

Beyond hardware, quality programming is equally essential. Today, ELTA TV offers broadcasts of the MLB, US Open, UEFA Champions League, and CPBL, and will cover the 2012 London Olympics — marking ELTA’s fourth Olympic broadcast after Beijing, Vancouver, and Singapore. CTO Chih-Yi Cheng explained that the London Olympics will be entirely in HD, providing stunning visuals. ELTA will broadcast over 2,000 hours of Olympic content — the most ever. The network also continues to produce over 2,000 hours of original HD programming annually, including shows on food, travel, finance, and lifestyle. These programs air on Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD platform and simultaneously stream online and on mobile — making ELTA the only broadcaster in Taiwan to deliver synchronized post-production across multiple new media platforms.

Expanding into the Cloud
In addition to its HD advantage, ELTA officially entered Taiwan’s cloud industry this year. CEO Sally Chen stated, “Cloud computing is the current trend. ELTA has built its own Media Cloud, marking its formal entry into Taiwan’s cloud sector. Through cloud computing, we aim to provide more diverse services to our users.” As technology advances, viewers consume entertainment through an increasing variety of devices — from TVs and computers to smartphones and tablets — leading to new viewing behaviors. CTO Chih-Yi Cheng noted that as 3G and 4G devices proliferate, cross-platform viewing will become the norm. ELTA has already developed its own cloud storage and encoding systems, enabling real-time transmission of audiovisual content across platforms. In the future, audiences will simply connect to the cloud to enjoy a fully digital lifestyle.

Celebrating the Third Anniversary
On October 21, ELTA TV celebrated its third anniversary by inviting over a hundred viewers and partners to a movie screening in gratitude for their support. Over the past three years, ELTA has grown from a newcomer in the media world to one of MOD’s most popular channels — a journey built on hard work and dedication. Looking ahead, ELTA aims to continue offering diverse content and services to meet viewer needs, thrive in the competitive media landscape, and lead Taiwan’s digital content industry into a new era of media convergence between telecommunications and broadcasting.
Happy Birthday, ELTA TV!

ELTA Cloud Video Service Creates a New Digital Lifestyle

The four-day “2011 Taiwan International Broadband Communications Exhibition” concluded successfully, and ELTA Technology, as an innovative leader in Taiwan’s new media industry, participated in this grand event, showcasing its “Multi-Screen One Cloud” video service. “Multi-Screen” refers to cross-platform, cross-screen live streaming, while “One Cloud” refers to the application of cloud technology in the audiovisual industry. With the help of cloud technology, viewers can enjoy digital audiovisual content anytime and anywhere through various mobile devices connected to the cloud.

The emergence of HD (high-definition) quality has brought a new highlight to television viewing, turning watching TV into a visual pleasure. With the rise of cloud technology, watching TV is no longer limited to television sets — computers and mobile devices now allow people to watch content anywhere, completely changing viewing habits. ELTA Technology CEO Sally Chen stated that the “Multi-Screen One Cloud” service offers users a seamless, integrated experience. By connecting through TVs, computers, smartphones, or tablets, users can enjoy unified access. When combined with a Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication system, this integration allows smooth interoperability between devices, ensuring consistent and familiar services across both small and large screens. Moreover, “Multi-Screen One Cloud” also provides differentiated and interactive services. When integrated with platforms such as healthcare, surveillance, or video conferencing, it enriches consumers’ digital lives.

Excellent services rely on advanced technology and infrastructure. ELTA Technology is Taiwan’s first media operator to invest in cloud-based video services, having independently developed a brand-new video service system that strengthens next-generation IP video streaming. From content creation to transcoding and output, this system efficiently manages multimedia streaming demands. ELTA’s CTO, Chih-Yi Cheng, explained that ELTA’s self-developed “Media Cloud” features large-scale storage, high-speed computing, and streaming capabilities. Through this unique cloud technology, ELTA aims to provide more diverse viewing services across TV, internet, and mobile markets to meet consumer needs.

ELTA’s in-house “Media Cloud” consists of three parts — Transcoding Cloud, Storage Cloud, and Management Cloud — each designed based on the specific needs of the audiovisual industry. Since ELTA uses these systems internally, continuous testing and adjustments have proven their reliability in practical applications. The three components function as follows:

Transcoding Cloud
The transcoding service of the cloud platform provides powerful technology to convert multimedia files into various formats optimized for different devices and bandwidths. The most remarkable feature of ELTA’s Transcoding Cloud is its ability to quickly and easily expand GPU capacity, tripling transcoding speed! ELTA produces over 250 hours of HD content weekly across internet TV, web, mobile, and PDA devices. Supported formats include MP4, H.263, H.264, 3GPP, and VC1.

Storage Cloud
Storing audiovisual files is a major challenge for many content producers and service providers. ELTA developed a massive storage system exceeding 1 petabyte to address this issue, providing the most cost-effective option among economical storage solutions. Since the system focuses on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than peak performance, ELTA’s massive storage solution is more cost-efficient than any other disk storage system on the market. It supports complete file backups and can be easily expanded beyond 10 petabytes!

Management Cloud
Managing and storing massive amounts of video can be overwhelming without an effective tagging and indexing system. Imagine having over 500,000 hours of video in your cloud database and needing to locate a specific clip instantly. ELTA’s Media Asset Management (MAM) search engine uses tagging to locate the right video among over 10 million metadata entries in real time. The MAM system’s powerful search capabilities allow the engine to search 100,000 files per second after converting video into taggable metafiles.

Whether watching the latest drama online or streaming live MLB games on an iPhone or iPad at an outdoor café, advancements in broadband and cloud technologies have blurred the lines between computers and televisions. Cloud computing has revolutionized viewing habits — from TV, web, smartphones to tablets — offering audiences a multi-device entertainment experience. Apple, for example, has already begun offering cloud-based media services, allowing users to purchase music, books, and apps online and automatically sync them across devices without physical connections. Even TV shows can be purchased and wirelessly downloaded. Once Apple obtains movie distribution rights, similar services will be available for films as well. In the near future, people will simply connect their devices to the cloud to enjoy convenient cloud-based audiovisual entertainment.

Century’s Best, Outstanding Elite – Congratulations to Director Chen Yixing for Winning the Construction Research Enterprise Employee Elite Award

On August 5, 2011, Venus Chen, Director of Project and Mobile Value-Added Services at ELTA Technology, received the “Outstanding Employee Elite Award” from the Chinese Association of Industry and Commerce Research. This marked the first time an ELTA employee received this honor — not only a personal recognition for Director Chen but also a validation of ELTA Technology’s excellence and its emphasis on talent, proving once again that people are the foundation of any enterprise.

Talent is the most critical resource for Taiwanese enterprises. The quality of leadership and the number of skilled employees determine a company’s competitiveness and success in the business arena. Outstanding employees play a vital role in a company’s stability and sustainability. ELTA Technology, Taiwan’s leading broadband digital content integration company, has achieved its current success through the concerted efforts of all its staff. Venus Chen, a senior colleague at ELTA and head of the Project and Mobile Value-Added Services Department, has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance. Her excellence earned her praise and nomination from CEO Sally Chen for the “Outstanding Employee Elite Award.” In her recommendation, CEO Chen wrote: “Ms. Chen has demonstrated exceptional responsibility and initiative in executing her duties; from project initiation to completion, she maintains high efficiency and cost control.” These few words perfectly describe Venus’s work performance — proactive, passionate, and unafraid of challenges, serving as the driving force of her department and inspiring her team to explore new fields and learn continuously.

The “Outstanding Employee Elite Award,” established by the Chinese Association of Industry and Commerce Research, not only honors the recipients’ exceptional work performance and contributions to their companies but also recognizes corporations that value and cultivate talent, setting an example for workplace learning and excellence. As the first ELTA employee to receive this prestigious award, Venus humbly expressed her gratitude to CEO Chen for her trust and empowerment, which allowed her to fully apply her strengths and contribute to the company. From managing physical channel operations to leading new media business development — two very different domains — Venus has excelled in both. Her proactive and fearless approach is the key to her success. She emphasized that while professionalism is important, attitude matters even more — an active and positive attitude is the true key to career growth. Venus quoted CEO Chen’s words: “Work should be done with diligence, passion, professionalism, and a mission to succeed.” She said this statement profoundly influenced her, reminding her always to stay positive toward the unknown, broaden her horizons, and courageously take on new challenges to create new personal value.

Talent is the cornerstone of a company’s success. Retaining and utilizing talent is essential for sustainable growth. Venus’s outstanding performance not only set a benchmark for ELTA employees but also strengthened the company’s overall competitiveness. Her award further affirms ELTA Technology’s achievements in talent management. Looking ahead, ELTA aims to attract more talented individuals, integrate digital content with core technologies, develop cloud-based services, actively engage with international markets, and offer diversified services — paving the way for a new era in Taiwan’s digital media industry!

HD+ Triple-Screen for London Olympics, ELTA Secures Broadcast Rights

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, five channels (2 HD + 3 SD) were broadcast, setting a new record in Taiwan since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics for the most Olympic channels and longest broadcast time in a single event, making ELTA TV on MOD famous overnight. For the 2012 London Olympics, ELTA TV obtained the exclusive broadcasting rights for Taiwan — marking the first time in Taiwan’s Olympic broadcast history that a non-terrestrial TV station became the general agent.

After long negotiations, ELTA secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the London Olympics in Taiwan, covering terrestrial TV, cable TV, and new media. Following the 3D broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, this was another pioneering achievement for ELTA TV. The goal was to allow sports fans in Taiwan to watch the world’s greatest sporting events live, in full, and in real time. Even IOC President Jacques Rogge said, “We are delighted to continue working with ELTA after the 2008 Beijing Olympics.” ELTA TV CEO Sally Chen remarked:
“We are also very pleased that ELTA has obtained the broadcasting rights for the London 2012 Olympics in Taiwan. Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ELTA has been an official partner of the International Olympic Committee. The Beijing Games marked a new milestone for ELTA in the new media industry. In this rapidly developing digital era, we will continue to create more services for our audience.”

Looking back, since the Beijing Olympics, ELTA TV has been a broadcasting partner of the IOC. In 2008, ELTA was Taiwan’s first media company to broadcast the Olympics in HD. It was also the exclusive broadcaster for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. For the highly anticipated 2012 London Olympics, ELTA TV once again became Taiwan’s exclusive broadcasting agent. With multiple past collaborations, IOC Executive Committee Member Richard Carrión, who led the negotiations, praised ELTA highly, saying: “ELTA possesses advanced technology and cross-platform broadcasting experience, proving that they are an excellent Olympic broadcast partner. We eagerly look forward to working with ELTA in Taiwan for the Olympics.”

From a technical perspective, ELTA’s CTO, Chih-Yi Cheng, pointed out that ELTA started as a technology company and has extensive experience in three-screen cross-platform broadcasting (TV, internet, and mobile). Combined with its exclusive 3D World Cup broadcasts and thousands of hours of HD production experience, these are ELTA’s core strengths. In response to the government’s Digital Year policy, ELTA will introduce over 2,000 hours of HD Olympic coverage — the most comprehensive ever. Cheng stated that the 2012 London Olympics will be broadcast entirely in HD, offering high resolution and crystal-clear visuals that will deliver an exceptional viewing experience. To allow more viewers to enjoy HD quality, ELTA also plans to collaborate with other media channels to broadcast the London Olympics and cheer for Taiwan’s athletes together.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics marked the birth of ELTA TV on MOD; the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and Singapore Youth Olympics documented ELTA’s growth and maturity; and the 2012 London Olympics will be the moment when ELTA TV spreads its wings and soars high. A new HD vision, a new cross-platform experience — stay tuned for ELTA’s triple-screen (winning) broadcast of the 2012 London Olympics!

Soaring to the Cloud, ELTA Steps onto the International Stage

Cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and tablet computers were the three main highlights of this year's Taipei International Computer Exhibition, Computex. Among them, cloud computing drew the most attention from all sectors. The Taiwan Cloud Pavilion, located in Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center, attracted many domestic and international companies and visitors during its five-day exhibition. The projects displayed at this year's Cloud Pavilion covered a wide range—from Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to Software as a Service (SaaS). Exhibitors included nine major member companies such as the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Institute for Information Industry (III), Chunghwa Telecom, and ELTA Technology, showcasing diverse cloud applications in five major areas: work, entertainment, healthcare, education, and security.

Cloud computing holds limitless business opportunities, prompting many domestic and international companies to join the cloud industry. Relevant research reports indicate that the global surge of smart mobile devices has completely dismantled the past "PC era" centered around personal computers, giving rise to the "Cloud Era." In the future, users of various mobile devices will no longer need physical connections to computers to synchronize and update their data. They only need to connect to the cloud through Wi-Fi networks to synchronize and update all their devices. Users can upload songs, photos, e-books, emails, contact lists, calendars, videos, and other content to cloud servers and share them across devices. Simply put, the cloud replaces the personal computer's role in synchronization operations, making product usage more convenient. ELTA Technology CEO Sally Chen stated that cloud computing is the current trend. ELTA has built its own video and film cloud, officially announcing its entry into Taiwan's cloud industry, with hopes that the use of cloud computing will bring more diverse services to its users.

For consumers, cloud computing provides more convenient digital content services and fosters new usage behaviors; for businesses, it presents unlimited business opportunities in digital content storage and utilization. ELTA's Vice President and CTO, Chih-Yi Cheng, believes that as cloud technologies advance, cross-platform viewing behaviors will become increasingly common. Currently, ELTA has independently developed its own cloud storage and encoding systems, enabling real-time transmission of video content to various platforms for audience viewing. These new cloud computing technologies have created new usage behaviors while also generating additional value and opportunities—a win-win situation for both consumers and businesses.

On June 6, 2011, Apple CEO Steve Jobs once again took the stage at the Moscone Center to introduce the "iCloud" service, which sparked another wave of revolution in the information industry. As cloud business opportunities expand, major domestic and international companies have been actively deploying in the cloud sector. The government has also included "cloud computing" among the four emerging smart industries, promoting cloud-related technologies and driving the development of Taiwan's cloud industry. Facing the arrival of the "Cloud Era," ELTA Technology has also actively invested in cloud computing development. By participating in Computex together with the Taiwan Cloud Industry Association, ELTA officially announced its entry into Taiwan's cloud industry, hoping to provide more convenient video and information services through new technologies and innovations.
