Hangzhou Asian Games Joint Broadcast Lineup is Super Luxurious – Starting 9/23, Inviting the Nation to Cheer for Taiwan’s Athletes! Five Major Media Promote 20 Channels, Nearly 2,500 Hours of Uninterrupted Broadcast
Postponed due to the pandemic, the highly anticipated “2022 Hangzhou Asian Games” will officially take place from September 23 for 16 days. Following the 67-medal success at the 2018 Jakarta–Palembang Games, Taiwan will send a strong delegation of over 500 athletes to compete for Asia’s top honors. With 25 days remaining before the Games, it was officially announced that Chunghwa Telecom, ELTA TV, Public Television Service (PTS), Eastern Broadcasting (EBC), and Videoland TV Network will jointly provide nearly 2,500 hours of coverage—ensuring fans across Taiwan can follow every highlight of our athletes’ performances anytime, anywhere.
Record Coverage: Nearly 2,500 Hours Across 20 Channels
Real-Time Updates on Taiwan’s Athletes
Under the guidance of Taiwan’s Sports Administration, the five broadcasters (Chunghwa Telecom, ELTA, PTS, EBC, and Videoland) will utilize 20 channels across four major platforms—IPTV (Chunghwa Telecom MOD), online OTT (Hami Video), cable TV, and terrestrial TV—to deliver comprehensive coverage.
Chunghwa Telecom MOD will broadcast the Games for the fourth consecutive edition. ELTA Sports 1 and 2 will feature exclusive “4K Asian Games” coverage for the first time, alongside ELTA Sports 3 and three new original-audio channels “ELTA Asian Games 1–3,” providing over 1,000 hours of TV coverage. MOD’s exclusive replay function allows viewers to instantly revisit medal-winning and key moments.
On OTT platforms, Chunghwa Telecom’s Hami Video and ELTA.tv will add ELTA Asian Games Channels 4–10, delivering nearly 2,000 additional hours of live content—covering every exciting moment of Team Taiwan’s journey on mobile devices. Over 50 professional anchors and commentators will provide in-depth coverage throughout the Games.
To ensure broad access nationwide, PTS will join as the free-to-air broadcaster via its main channel and PTS3, with veteran anchor Chien Ting-Yuan leading the commentary team. Daily event updates will be available on the PTS Sports Facebook page.
Eastern Broadcasting will once again leverage its live news capabilities, delivering Team Taiwan’s achievements in real time. Led by anchors Ting Yuan-Kai, Li Chia-Ming, Han Pei-Ying, and Chen Ching-Yi, supported by veteran commentators including Tien Hung-Kuei, Chang Fu-Ning, Pan Chung-Wei, Lin Kun-Han, Chia Fan, and Chien Wei-Chuan, EBC will broadcast 120 hours of live action across channels such as EBC News (CH51) and EBC Super (CH33).
Longtime sports broadcaster Videoland TV Network will join for the fourth consecutive Games, airing extensive coverage on Videoland Sports (CH72), Videoland Entertainment (CH71), and Videoland General (CH26). The flagship program “Videoland Sports Studio” will also summarize daily highlights and interviews from Hangzhou.
This joint effort exceeds the 2018 Games in scale, offering nearly 2,500 total broadcast hours to meet the needs of both hardcore fans and casual viewers.

Over 500 Taiwanese athletes—including Olympic stars Kuo Hsing-Chun (weightlifting), Tai Tzu-Ying (badminton), Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin (badminton), Yang Yung-Wei (judo), Lo Chia-Ling (taekwondo), Lee Chih-Kai (gymnastics), Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng I-Ching (table tennis)—will compete, igniting nationwide enthusiasm once again. ELTA, as Taiwan’s official Asian Games broadcast agent, will form an anti-piracy task force to combat unauthorized use of content during the Games. Chairperson Sally Chen emphasized: “With over two million illegal TV boxes circulating domestically, we urge the public to support legal broadcasting to protect intellectual property and uphold fair licensing under the OCA’s official authorization.”
News outlets are also reminded to obtain authorized footage before using Asian Games material in their coverage.
Organizations planning public viewing events must obtain official authorization from ELTA TV, the exclusive broadcast agent for Taiwan, prior to hosting.
