Building a premier sports broadcasting platform, ELTA continues to support baseball! ELTA TV announced that it has secured the exclusive broadcast rights for Taiwan for the 6th World Baseball Classic (WBC). Starting in February 2025, ELTA will air 14 qualifying games (Taipei and Arizona rounds) through to 47 main tournament games in March 2026, providing a total of 61 matches and the most comprehensive viewing experience for baseball fans!

Organized by Major League Baseball (MLB), the World Baseball Classic is the most prestigious and globally popular international baseball tournament. A hallmark of the WBC is that MLB 40-man roster players are eligible to participate, making it one of the strongest competitions in the world. ELTA, long committed to broadcasting domestic and international baseball events, once again brings this world-class tournament to Taiwan, offering professional, seamless coverage to fans as part of its ongoing mission to build the ultimate “Baseball Broadcasting Platform.”

Continuing the championship momentum from the WBSC Premier12, Team Taiwan will defend home turf with pride! The 2025 WBC Qualifier Group A will ignite at the Taipei Dome on February 21. Team Taiwan will face Nicaragua, South Africa, and Spain to vie for one of the top two spots and a ticket to the main event. Group B games will take place in Arizona from March 2–6, featuring Colombia, China, Brazil, and Germany. All 14 qualifying games will be broadcast live on ELTA Sports 2 and ELTA.tv so fans can cheer for Taiwan’s heroes in real time!

Battle at Taipei Dome Against the World’s Best
Despite finishing the last WBC with the same 2–2 record as other teams in their group, Team Taiwan ranked fifth due to higher runs allowed and must now requalify. Manager Tseng Hao-Chu, who led Taiwan to victory in the 2024 WBSC Premier12, will once again take the helm. The coaching staff has submitted a 35-player preliminary roster and received positive feedback from most players. Team captain Chen Chieh-Hsien is also expected to return. The team will begin its second training phase after Lunar New Year, with the final 28-man roster to be announced following evaluations. All three of Taiwan’s qualifying games are scheduled for primetime: February 21 (Fri) vs. Spain, February 22 (Sat) vs. South Africa, and February 23 (Sun) vs. Nicaragua—all at 7:00 p.m. Should Taiwan finish second or third in its group, an additional playoff game will take place on February 25 (Tue) to determine the final qualifier.

For the Group A games in Taipei, ELTA will produce live on-site broadcasts, featuring a distinguished commentary lineup including baseball analysts Tseng Wen-Cheng, former national team manager “Coach Tsao” Hsieh Chang-Heng, Coach Cheng Ching-Yi (“Da-Pang”), scouting analyst Coach Chou Cheng-Hsiung, and columnist “Milk” Wang Yi-Ken. They will deliver professional and diverse insights for fans. Group B commentary will feature MLB San Diego Padres scout Coach Geng Po-Hsuan, San Francisco Giants scout Hsueh Yi-Huang, WeAre founder Lo Kuo-Chen, and veteran sports journalist Lin Wei-Ting.
