ELTA Technology Successfully Passes Taiwan Stock Exchange Listing Review – Expected Official Listing in Q1 2024

The Taiwan Stock Exchange today (6th) held a Securities Listing Review Committee meeting and approved ELTA Technology Co., Ltd. (8487) for listing on the Taiwan Innovation Board. ELTA Technology is expected to become Taiwan’s first fully new-media-operated listed company in the first quarter of 2024.

The 19th Hangzhou Asian Games recently concluded with Taiwan’s athletes giving their all—bringing home an impressive 67 medals: 19 gold, 20 silver, and 28 bronze—tying the nation’s best-ever Asian Games record. From the preliminary rounds on September 19, MOD ELTA TV was first to deliver live coverage of Team Taiwan’s performances, with nearly 500 hours of Chinese-language commentary and over 2,000 hours of total live broadcasts across 14 channels, allowing viewers to follow every moment in real time.

Postponed due to the pandemic, the highly anticipated “2022 Hangzhou Asian Games” will officially take place from September 23 for 16 days. Following the 67-medal success at the 2018 Jakarta–Palembang Games, Taiwan will send a strong delegation of over 500 athletes to compete for Asia’s top honors. Eastern Broadcasting will once again leverage its live news capabilities, delivering Team Taiwan’s achievements in real time. Led by anchors Ting Yuan-Kai, Li Chia-Ming, Han Pei-Ying, and Chen Ching-Yi, supported by veteran commentators including Tien Hung-Kuei, Chang Fu-Ning, Pan Chung-Wei, Lin Kun-Han, Chia Fan, and Chien Wei-Chuan, EBC will broadcast 120 hours of live action across channels such as EBC News (CH51) and EBC Super (CH33).

Longtime sports broadcaster Videoland TV Network will join for the fourth consecutive Games, airing extensive coverage on Videoland Sports (CH72), Videoland Entertainment (CH71), and Videoland General (CH26). The flagship program “Videoland Sports Studio” will also summarize daily highlights and interviews from Hangzhou.

This joint effort exceeds the 2018 Games in scale, offering nearly 2,500 total broadcast hours to meet the needs of both hardcore fans and casual viewers.

ELTA Delivers Excellent Results – 2022 EPS 2.81, Growth of 37.75% – Sports Broadcast Momentum, Cash Dividend 2.2, 20-Year High

ELTA Technology (8487) held its 2023 Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting today (June 7), approving the 2022 financial statements and profit distribution plan. In 2022, ELTA reported operating revenue of NT$981,131 thousand, an increase of NT$47,138 thousand or 5.05% compared to NT$933,993 thousand in 2021. Net income after tax reached NT$61,140 thousand, up by NT$17,710 thousand from NT$43,430 thousand in 2021. Basic earnings per share were NT$2.81, a 37.75% increase compared to the adjusted NT$2.04 in 2021. The Board of Directors also approved a cash dividend of NT$2.2 per share, representing a dividend yield of 6.29%.

Reviewing the 2022 performance, ELTA achieved its highest-ever records since its founding 20 years ago—in operating revenue, net income, earnings per share, and cash dividends. Notably, the return on equity (ROE) reached an impressive 20.39%.

In the first two quarters of 2023, boosted by the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in March, ELTA achieved its highest ratings since 2021. Monthly revenue hit NT$153 million, with total revenue from January to May reaching NT$415 million—a 62.11% increase compared to NT$256 million during the same period last year. This growth was driven mainly by higher revenue sharing from ratings and stable OTT subscription growth, showcasing strong profit momentum across ELTA’s two core businesses.

The National Communications Commission (NCC) recently approved ELTA’s applications for five new channels, including three temporary “ELTA Asian Games 1–3” channels during the September Games, the 4K-focused “INULTRA Sports & Leisure Channel,” and “ELTA Sports 4,” which highlights grassroots sports in Taiwan. With these additions, ELTA’s family of channels will expand to 15 across genres including sports, drama, variety, music, lifestyle, and pets. This diversified content strategy will allow ELTA to serve audiences even better and is expected to fuel another wave of growth when its new digital content channels launch in late September.

After the first week of the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC), Team Taiwan delivered four thrilling games that captured fans’ hearts.
