Do you still remember the emotions our Taiwanese athletes brought us at the Tokyo Olympics? The 19th Asian Games—postponed by a year due to the pandemic—will officially open on the 23rd. Team Taiwan is sending an impressive 521 athletes to compete for the nation. Judo, shooting, rowing, and poomsae are strong medal chances
Since first competing in 1954, this is Taiwan’s 13th Asian Games. We have accumulated 99 gold, 144 silver, and 276 bronze medals. The first gold in Hangzhou would be the historic “100th Asian Games gold” for Team Taiwan. Based on the schedule, medal hopes on Sunday 9/24 include the women’s 10m air rifle trio, judo stars Yang Yung-Wei and Lin Chen-Hao, rower Huang Yi-Ting and teammates, wushu athlete Liu Pei-Hsün, as well as evening finals for swimmers including Wang Hsing-Hao, the men’s artistic gymnastics team event, and men’s épée.
Baseball group stage begins 10/1
Weightlifting star Kuo Hsing-Chun goes for back-to-back gold on 10/2
Taiwan’s beloved men’s baseball team opens on Sunday 10/1 against a qualifier, then faces South Korea on Monday 10/2. After inspiring U12 and U18 World Cup runs, fans are excited to see the senior team shine. Meanwhile, the world’s top women’s 59 kg weightlifter Kuo Hsing-Chun competes Monday 10/2 at 15:00—ELTA will bring it to you live as she seeks a second consecutive Asian Games title.
As for the “Pommel Horse Prince” Lee Chih-Kai—brilliant at the Tokyo Olympics and the Universiade—he joins teammates in the team event on Sunday 9/24 and is favored for pommel horse gold on Thursday 9/28 in the afternoon. Stay tuned to ELTA Sports and cheer on our athletes.

ELTA will deploy 14 channels for coverage, including the existing 3 ELTA Sports channels and 11 original-audio channels, so viewers won’t miss a single moment involving Team Taiwan. More than 50 experienced anchors and analysts will deliver coverage tailored to fans. For baseball, famed commentator Tseng Wen-Cheng—fresh off a ceremonial first pitch at the New York Mets’ home field—will provide Chinese commentary for Team Taiwan.
