2016 Rio Olympics – ELTA Shares the Passion and Glory with You

Do you still remember the 2004 Athens Olympics, when athletes Chen Shih-Hsin and Chu Mu-Yen captured Taiwan’s first-ever Olympic gold medals in taekwondo? Or the moving moment when the Chinese Taipei flag was raised to the sound of our national anthem? In 2016, ELTA TV will take you to Rio de Janeiro to relive the glorious moments of our national athletes competing for Olympic medals.

Every four years, Team Taiwan inspires pride and excitement with their Olympic performances. Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ELTA TV has been following the team closely, faithfully delivering every moment of their achievements on television, the web, and mobile platforms. From weightlifters Chen Wei-Ling and Lu Ying-Chi, to taekwondo stars Chu Mu-Yen and Sung Yu-Chi, and from London 2012 medalists Hsu Shu-Ching and Tseng Li-Cheng, ELTA has always been there to share every triumph and tear with viewers across Taiwan.

For the 2016 Rio Olympics, ELTA has once again secured exclusive broadcasting rights. From August 6 to 22, viewers will enjoy 17 consecutive days of Olympic coverage across 14 channels, featuring both global superstars and Taiwan’s elite athletes. Will “the fastest man alive” Usain Bolt achieve a historic triple gold in the 100m and 200m? Can Michael Phelps’s eight-gold legend be surpassed? And will Team USA’s basketball squad, led by Kobe Bryant, dominate once again? For Taiwan, medal hopes remain high in taekwondo, weightlifting, and archery — and viewers can follow every match via MOD, online, or mobile streaming.

ELTA will provide over 2,500 hours of Olympic coverage — a 20% increase over the London 2012 Games. Missed a match? No problem — with VOD and time-shift viewing, fans can watch anytime and replay their favorite moments endlessly. Staying true to its tech-driven DNA, ELTA will also debut 4K “Road to Rio” preview programs in early 2016, following its success with 3D Olympic broadcasts in 2012.

As ELTA strives to deliver the best Olympic coverage for Taiwanese viewers, our athletes continue their quest to qualify for Rio. So far, Team Taiwan has secured 22 slots — including 7 in weightlifting, 4 in archery, several in shooting (Lin Yi-Chun, Wu Chia-Ying), tennis (Chan Yung-Jan, Chan Hao-Ching), track and field (Chen Chieh, Hsiang Chun-Hsien, Hsu Yu-Fang, Ho Chin-Ping, Hsieh Chien-Ho, Chen Yu-Hsuan), and equestrian (Wang Yi-Hsiu). More athletes are expected to qualify soon.

You may have missed their journey so far — but their future is worth every cheer. ELTA TV invites all Taiwanese viewers to join us in celebrating the Rio 2016 Olympics and supporting Team Taiwan!

Cultural Creative New Force – ELTA Technology (8487) Listed on Emerging Stock Board

ELTA Technology (8487), Taiwan’s pioneering new media company, continues to break new ground with milestones such as obtaining the world’s first new media Olympic broadcasting license, Taiwan’s first HD and 3D Olympic broadcasts, and multi-angle coverage. To enhance brand visibility and attract top talent, ELTA has decided to enter the capital market, with plans to be listed on the Emerging Stock Board (TPEx) on December 10.

“Born from the internet, grown in the cloud, and specialized in mobility — a new media company with technology as its DNA.” This concise statement perfectly encapsulates ELTA’s development and positioning. CEO Sally Chen stated, “Digital convergence will revolutionize the existing media industry — cross-platform content integration will become increasingly common, and the future will be a ‘TV Anywhere’ era.” In facing the powerful digital wave, ELTA has chosen to respond proactively, leveraging its technological strengths to secure a pivotal role in the media value chain. Chen added, “The advantage of digital technology is that mastering one core competency can generate countless innovative applications — that’s what differentiates ELTA from traditional content producers.”

Thanks to its diversified business model, ELTA achieved remarkable results: NT$545 million in revenue for 2014 with an EPS of NT$2.12 (capital NT$150 million), up 12% year-over-year; and NT$262 million in consolidated revenue for 1H2015 with an EPS of NT$0.68 (capital NT$180 million), up 18%. ELTA’s primary business segments include (1) Digital Content Production & Distribution, (2) Commercial Video Services, and (3) System Development & Project Integration. Details are as follows:

(1) **Digital Content Production & Distribution**
ELTA currently operates five in-house TV channels and represents ten international channels (including the BBC family). From content production and channel management to foreign channel representation, digital audiovisual content remains ELTA’s core business. These programs are made available to the public through Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD, Hami, and CHT Video platforms. Moving forward, ELTA plans to expand to multiple distribution platforms to embrace the next wave of digital convergence.

(2) **Commercial Video Services**
As Taiwan’s leader in cloud-based new media, ELTA is committed to driving innovation in the media technology industry. By combining online streaming technology with professional HD video production, ELTA partnered with Chunghwa Telecom’s HiNet to launch “hievent” — Taiwan’s first enterprise-grade cloud video integration service. This all-in-one B2B broadcasting solution enables Taiwanese businesses to harness the power of digital media marketing and explore new business opportunities in the cloud era.

(3) **System Development & Project Collaboration**
Founded as an internet technology company, ELTA possesses deep expertise in digital technology and platform development. Since its inception, the company has built multiple digital video platforms, including Chunghwa Telecom’s HiChannel and numerous enterprise video websites. Today, ELTA continues to focus on its core technologies — multi-screen integration, big data, cloud applications, and digital convergence (OTT). Notable projects include developing the CPBL.TV streaming service and OTT apps for the Chinese Professional Baseball League. ELTA also excels in large-scale government integration projects, providing comprehensive app development, cross-platform integration, and custom full-stack website solutions.

After 15 years of development, ELTA is officially entering the capital market. CEO Chen stated, “Our goals for listing are to attract talent, align with international standards, and raise funds for future growth. TPEx listing is only the first step — we are moving toward full public listing.” With a strong foundation and competitive edge, ELTA is poised to seize the next wave of opportunities in the digital media industry.
