After delivering world-class coverage for the last two FIFA World Cups, ELTA TV proudly announced that it has secured broadcasting rights for the 2018 FIFA World Cup — marking its third consecutive World Cup and coinciding with the company’s 8th anniversary celebration.
Having just wrapped up Rio Olympic coverage, ELTA celebrates its 8th anniversary with the exciting news of bringing the 2018 World Cup to Taiwanese viewers once again. Following its broadcasts of the 2010 and 2014 tournaments, ELTA will continue its legacy of excellence, allowing fans to witness the world’s greatest players battle for football’s ultimate glory.
Since its OTT platform launch, ELTA has seen tremendous growth — adding over 10,000 new users during the Olympics. Among them, 70% are aged 18–35, with a male-to-female ratio of roughly 2:1, and over 60% of users replaying content daily. These figures demonstrate a clear shift away from traditional TV toward more flexible, digital viewing habits among Taiwanese audiences. ELTA plans to further expand its OTT services, offering even higher quality and stability for sports fans nationwide.
With 600 days to go before the 2018 World Cup, ELTA is already warming up with a series of FIFA tournaments — including the Futsal World Cup (September), FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup (October), and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (end of year). In 2017, ELTA will continue with the FIFA U-17 World Cup, U-20 World Cup, and Confederations Cup, ensuring that football fever stays alive across Taiwan.
