Taiwan’s First 4K and VR Olympic Broadcast ELTA Delivers 800 Hours on the “Ultimate Olympic Platform”
Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ELTA TV has been deeply involved in international sports broadcasting—especially the Olympics and Asian Games. This year’s Tokyo Olympics marks ELTA’s 10th major event broadcast. Despite the delay, ELTA has devoted itself fully to production and innovation, introducing Taiwan’s first-ever 4K and VR Olympic coverage—creating the most advanced and comprehensive “Olympic Broadcast Platform.”
On the Chunghwa Telecom MOD platform, ELTA will operate three sports channels (CH200–202) with 500 hours of Chinese-language coverage, including 24-hour UHD 4K programming on Sports 1 and 2. To ensure no viewer misses a moment, ELTA will also launch three original-audio Olympic channels (CH220–222), offering 300 hours of international feeds—totaling 800 hours of Olympic coverage, the most in Taiwan.
On OTT and mobile platforms, including Chunghwa Telecom Hami Video and ELTA.tv, viewers can enjoy six ELTA channels and 800 hours of coverage. Hami Video will also debut Taiwan’s first VR Olympic broadcast, featuring VR coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, basketball, track and field, boxing, gymnastics, and beach volleyball—ushering viewers into the 5G era with the most exciting way to experience the world’s biggest sporting stage.

Connecting the Dots to Boost the Industry ELTA Leads Taiwan’s Sports Broadcasting
Having broadcast four consecutive Summer Olympics, ELTA has become synonymous with professional sports coverage in Taiwan. Chairperson Sally Chen expressed deep honor that ELTA was again recognized by the IOC as Taiwan’s official broadcast agent. She emphasized that a mature sports ecosystem requires not only athletic excellence but also innovation in technology, transmission, and platforms. From HD and 3D to 4K and even VR/AR, ELTA continues to make sports broadcasting more exciting—like fireworks igniting enthusiasm across the sports industry.

Experienced Sports Coverage and Star Broadcast Team
With 15 years of sports broadcasting experience, ELTA has trained many professional anchors and commentators.
